A few comments about what's going on

---I think Maryland is, without a doubt, the most physically talented Big 10 team. Smith & Fernando are both awesome talents, as is the PG Cowen. Ayala & Morsell are pretty damn good as well. They have the talent to do well in the NCAA tourney.......but with inexperience and the coach they have they could also be a one & done.

---The MD-Purdue game was a great watch. I tell you what, it takes a fully invested team to take Purdue down, as they are playing very hard. Maryland had a big talent edge and the home court, but they had to hit a lot of tough shots to catch up fairly late in the game. Once they did catch up, Purdue pretty well folded the tents. I think a lot of blame can go to Edwards for that loss. He ball hogged late in the game, even when Cline was hot.

---There isn't much doubt, is there, that the IU & Nebraska teams generally give the least effort of the 14? The Rutgers & Illinois teams have been playing their asses off, and Chambers has PSU playing hard now as well.

---In addition to giving the least effort, I think IU & Nebraska are the two worst teams in the Big 10 right now. Losing Copeland for the year was a killer for a Nebraska team that was had great chemistry (except maybe when they kicked our ass in Bloomington).

---I think Purdue may be the only team that has not slumped at some point in the BT season. Their player development and togetherness have been frustrating to watch.

I honestly do not even care since IU has cashed in the season and we look likely to be battling to just stay out of last place. Penn State could get a couple more wins soon and we will be looking at last place. Just another March coming up with IU sitting at home.

What's sad is that we've been mostly a bystander to one of the most interesting BT races in the last 15 years.

The league is tough from top to bottom, obviously to varying degrees. There are no nights off especially on the road.

Purdue will lose at least two more @minnesota and @Assembly Hall and probably one other.

I think 15-5 gets a share of the title this year.

Except for IU teams winning in Assembly Hall by double digits, embarrassing

Nebraska-Tim Miles, although one of the most likeable coaches in the conference, has done less with more than any other coach, for a period of years.
If there is one disappointment greater than IU it is them.

Penn State is indeed the best worst team I can ever remember in the Big Ten. They are relentless. I watched as they missed a tying lay in at OSU the other night and just was thinking how they battle everyone. Chambers may not have a lot of pizzazz as a coach but he sure does get toughness from his group.

I agree with what the OP said about each team having some ruts; although Purdue basically had theirs in December when they were losing non-con games.

On paper Maryland is a close second to MSU in pure talent, but without Josh Langford, perhaps Md does equate or have a slight edge.

Illinois- I said it last year, I kind of like Underwood. They have not been winning but no team is more lacking at key spots. Plus, Ayo is easily top 5 for freshmen along with Weiscamp, Iggy, Romeo and J.Smith, then MSU's guy Henry from Indy.

Iowa is more balanced with shooting, size and athletes than they've been in many years. They are a pretty good team this year.

Northwestern could be slightly better but they represent OK, and UM has been outstanding this year.

Wisconsin- I have to credit Gard. It's not like teams don't know what they are going to do, they just execute well and really understand their roles. A credit to the coaches there.

MSU should have run away with it but this was Langford's year and now that he is out they are a different team.

OSU is not impressive but what can I say, they played smart against IU and have come away with a few that could have gone either way. Rutgers has too, and who doesn't like the confidence of Geo Baker?

I recall many buffoons on here declaring in December that Wisconsin basketball was”done now that Bo is gone.”

They’ll beat IU again this year for like the 500th time. They just quietly go about their business and beat up our little program year after year.

I don't think I said they were completely done, but I suspected they would not achieve their past "always top 4" status. Guard has the advantage of continuum that few coaches get. Izzo and Few being a couple of them, perhaps Thompson III when he took over GU.

They passed IU by about 20 years ago, honestly. Even when they have been a bit down, we lose to them. They are simply a better program.

Bill Guthridge was a continuation coach who won a title, but then the next coach was a let down. It happens. I can't wait to see Duke crumble. They cannot hold K's percentages much longer.
