The AA problem I saw on my trip to Missouri

While you attempt to deflect for your Socialist Party, the fact REMAINS, the democrats have tightly clung to the black vote. The black vote has always gone democrat, and it absolutely has not helped them across this great country.

What happened in Cairo is called white flight...learn about it!! The black community has really struggled ever since...It's because they lack certain skills, education chiefly, to create prosperity...And again, the democrats Do Not want them to be prosperous because it would kill their platforms.
You can tell how an argument is going when the loser resorts to all caps and exclamation marks amid not-racism.

Illinois is a blue state, but you probably already knew that I mean “the Mesiah” was elected from that state.

And here I was thinking Don the con was a New Yorker. Learn something new every day. Oh yeah, you're missing an s.

Thank you for whitesplaining "those people's" problems.

Thursday morning, we traveled over to Charleston, Missouri to purchase fireworks. I was excited for a neat but short road trip. It was about 70 miles from my house here in Kentucky.

Our trip took us through Wickliffe, Ky and Cairo, Illinois. Both of these towns are small river towns with Wickliffe on the Mississippi River and Cairo at the confluence of the Mississippi River and Ohio River. I was floored at the dilapidated conditions of Cairo, Illinois!!!

The history of the town suggests a once bustling community that is strategically positioned at the confluence of two historic rivers. In the 1960s Cairo experienced large riots and violence. A black man interviewed on one of the youtube videos stated they "won the battle but lost the war" referring to the current poverty and economic depression of the city.

It occurred to me after watching at least a dozen videos on that region, that as a white person I really have no clue what they've been through. The black community has traveled some roads filled with poverty, restrictions, racism and violence.

Where I differ with democrats is in the approach to better black lives. The democrat approach of give, give, give and putting them in public housing has been a disaster for black people. The black community needs to seek a different approach, one that gives them a future outside of the poverty and public housing they find themselves in...This means choosing to learn trades, skilled training, and education.

These little towns are a microcosm of what happens when voting for generations of democrats. The ceiling is low, certainly not high and you'll forever be dependent on the government hand out...Trump 2020!! A vote for the democrats is a vote for socialism!!

Why don't you drive through Beattyville, KY and let us know your brilliant ideas about the "Republican Approach". Republicans always get the white vote? What happened? Also, how many abandoned cars in your front yard is too many for your average Kentuckian?

Also, what's up with those inbred smurfs in Kentucky? Blue people? Yeah...why don't you worry about your back yard before you go all KKK on all of us?

Yes, these hillbillies are SO inbred, they are BLUE!!!!

I'm boggled by a thread unironically titled, "The AA problem I saw on my trip to Missouri." People seem no longer able to detect Old Timey Racism. Apparently that doesn't exist any more, even though it does.
I came here thinking he couldn't finding a meeting while on the road. Silly me.

You've never been to Cairo, or Alexander County, IL, have you?

You think in blocks . . . generalizations . . . .
Umm so what does that have to do with the fact Illinois is a blue state? I don’t think I mentioned anything specific about the town or county?

Democratic governor, poorly ran state is poorly ran fiscally, yes probably because of Chicago the city on the verge of financial disaster even prior to covid. I was told you can’t exclude New York when talking covid deaths well you can exclude Chicago when talking Red or Blue.

How does that square with the studies that show the more education you have, the less likely you are to vote for Trump?
It doesn't mean people are smarter. It means they have been brainwashed. It is systemic brainwashing that is going on in many colleges and universities. Many young people are liberal when they leave college. But life teaches them the silliness of liberalism/progressive ism and they become more conservative as they go on.

People like VPM get their talking points from Trump (or, more precisely, from Trump's senior advisor, speechwriter and far-right loony Stephen Miller). Just two nights ago, at his campaign rally near Mount Rushmore, Trump talked about a "merciless campaign . . . to indoctrinate our children." Similarly, he attributed the recent civil unrest to "years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism and other cultural institutions."

Team Trump hates education almost as much as they hate the media. They can't survive without millions of uninformed supporters who are unable or unwilling to think for themselves.

Evangelicals are experts at brainwashing. No one does it more or better.

Isn’t that interesting, Trump parrot talking about brainwashing. I was actually the opposite. I was just like my parents for a long time. I didn’t learn anything about politics at IU. When I was out on my own and able to think for myself, I knew I wanted no part of the social wars that Pat Buchanan and ilk were starting. They’ve been running on inflaming racial divisions since the Civil Rights Act and the southern strategy.

VSM is living proof that this is a great country. If you can be as ignorant as he is, hold a job that provides no tangible benefit to anyone and still have time to post inane comments here then America is a special place.

Just like the flag burners last night. Awesome folks.

Did some "lefty" start a thread on this, and come on parroting those talking points? I think most of us start threads on issues we see/read about and then link to the specific story. VPM just sees a talking point on Fox (shooting in CHOP) or excerpts from Trump's diatribe in SD, and then just comes on here and posts as if it's an original thought.

Obviously this is right out of Trump's playbook from SD Fri night. I'm surprised VPM isn't on here telling us that leftists are "fascists" and advocate totalitarianism, even though modern-day Antifa is directly evolved from the Anti Fascist movement of 1930s Germany. There's a huge inherent difference between agreeing with something based on facts and parroting a misrepresentation of actual events based on a singular attempt to revise actual Historical events...

"Far-left Fascism" is a nonsensical, non-existent concept, used only because Trump and his supporters know the evil inherent in the word "fascism". So they want to try and tar their political opponents with it.

But fascism is itself a very precise term- you can't be fascist unless you advocate for AUTOCRATIC rule, fostered by the use of the military to support Nationalistic aims internally and expansion globally thru Colonialism and Imperialism.

That's what made Mussolini with his desire to reconstruct the Roman Empire and Hitler with his dream to establish Greater German Autonomy thruout Western and non-Slavic Europe FASCISTS...

At least you admit college brainwashing. On a more serious topic. Every Christian wants their children to be saved. We teach them the Scriptures and hold out to them the Jesus of that Scripture. In the end it is their decision whether they will believe in Him or not. I'm not sure where that is brainwashing. We are giving them the opportunity to believe but not forcing them to do so. On college campuses you are castigated if you are a Trump supporter today. The left will not tolerate you. Your college professors will demean you in class until you fall in line with their beliefs. I've never seen anybody in a church force or demean anyone and I've been a pastor for almost 20 yrs and a Christian for 35 yrs.

Last night the President mentioned cancel culture. This is a real thing. Jimmy Kimmel is teetering on the cliff and we don't know if he will get cancelled or forgiven. Would you not consider this to be far left fascism? If not what do you call it? I call it a bunch of leftist bullies. That is my term, but the President said cancel culture.

At my church here in Indy, our real pastor preached a sermon entitled "Christian Civics Lesson" based on Matthew 7:12-23, especially the Golden Rule. I must admit, I thought of VSM, especially in regards to Matthew 7:15.
It was a very powerful sermon, and one that called for unity under the Golden Rule. I certainly need to do better.

There are many gays that would disagree with that, many Muslims as well. We will just tackle the easy one, conversion therapy.

Did one of you start "this thread parroting talking points"? No not this one, but dozen of others just like it.

Oh, and there is no material difference between referencing and parroting and linking and parroting. You two are both parrots...just at opposite ends of the cage.

You left out a bunch of coercive tactics:
-- picketing clinics to yell at and embarrass young women when you have no idea what procedures they are seeking.
-- chastity and no-alcohol pledges, followed up by public identification and shaming when someone doesn't want to sign one
-- political sermons from the pulpit as part of the regular services
-- thinly disguised prayers from the pulpit that are really directed at specific people
-- unannounced visits to homes and college dorm rooms
-- publication of names, addresses and phone numbers in church bulletins without asking
-- persistent face-to-face altar calls even when someone doesn't want to pray in front of a roomful of strangers
-- surprise invitations to someone from the pulpit to give personal religious testimony in front of the entire congregation

Evangelicals simply do not let it be someone's private "decision whether they will believe in Him or not." You question and pry and demand audible proof, all of which is coercive.

Posting on a Sunday morning no less. Makes one wonder if he’s really a pastor. Even if he is, what a lovely way to be preparing for your big day, going to war on some random message board posting about those evil and misguided libruhls.

He's a parrot..

"Cancel culture" is this week's "butter emails". Expect to hear it a lot but don't confuse it as thought, it's not. It's pure squawk.

You guys are giving him way too much credit. The marching orders went out yesterday and he's just repeating it, there's no logic, experience, thought or reasoning at play in his comments. It doesn't work like that and by arguing with him you are only making it seem like what he squawked has validity. It doesn't. It's dumb, certainly not worth arguing about and you guys sure in the hell can't educate the uneducable. Point and laugh ..

For the next four months, the GOP and Trump media messaging will be that the Dems are destroying our culture and values. Fascinating, I think, that the prime messenger will be a guy who is utterly devoid of values, character and integrity and whose conduct - - for virtually his entire adult life - - has been governed by his response to this single, self-reflective question: "When and how can I next: a) make headlines; b) make money; and 3) get laid (by someone other than my wife)?"

How so?

Also, please inform us as to your opinion on what has caused most of the problems in Cairo over the last 100 + years.
TIA

P.S. You do realize that most of the poorest states are Red states, right?
Reading td75's post, I got the distinct feeling that Cairo's problems are Democrats and black population. If I were the mayor of Cario, I would ban Democratic Party and chase all black people out of town.
Problem solved!

BTW, I have passed thru Cairo either early in the late 60s or early 70s. It was a depressing town then.
