Horrendous offense and coaching the last 4-5 minutes. Just terrible by Houston

Sampson is a very good coach. But when the officials start calling the grabs and hacks and pushes, he drops down more than a peg or two.
That’s really what happened in this game, I think. The refs started calling a basketball game kinda how it should be called.
Some pretty good defense from Florida also
Floridas defense was really good late. UH took it to the rim multiple times, Floridas bigs protected.
the fact they lost the national championship by 2 point is squarely on Sampson. they are not that talented of a team. 1 scorer in Cryer. they had an amazing season.
Yes they cranked up the D when they needed it and Houston had difficulty getting open looks.
Yeah good game, I would have liked to see Sampson win but at least it was close. IU has so far to go.
I couldn’t believe the difference in the way the halves were called. Did the commissioner call them at halftime? 4 fouls the whole first half, then 16 the first twelve minutes of the second half. That definitely worked against Houston.
I have no issue is sampson wins one. He did his time. Why hold grudges. If it's a holier than thou thing golden isn't no saint since all allegations must be believed.
Because he put us back years with his behavior. I’ll hold a grudge until he dies. Against he and TV Teddy Valentine.
It's the price to pay for that aggressive and physical of a defense.
*Really feel gutted for Houston. They played so incredibly hard and they have a distinct identity as a program. I will pull for them going forward

No, but I would suspect the NCAA doesn’t want the modus operandi for winning a title be physical slugfests and 50-49 title games. It would be bad for the product.
Very few fouls first half. Refs came out ready to play the 2nd. I don't have a dog in the game but I hate to see it.
Florida came out WAY more physical in the 2nd half, to the point it was getting chippy, so the refs had to clean things up. It is what it is. Wanted UH but was great to see smothering defense on both sides.
Agreed. It shouldn’t work that way, a foul should be a foul. I think UF consciously forced their hand.

This championship is poisoned. Golden has baggage and outraged that you aren’t calling it out.
Yeah, but it all starts with getting the right coach and with the portal, you can travel that path infinitely quicker. The question is: "do we have the right guy?"
We would never hire Golden. He had some serious stalking allegations leveled against him at the start of the season. The AD and administration stood behind him. Then more allegations about Taurean Green an assistant.

Yeah I didn’t hear anyone in the media mention his baggage! Why didn’t they bring up how IU had the moral high ground over Florida and Houston this year as the nets were being cut down?
Pretty mind blowing the allegations ( which must be believed ) are pretty serious. He also comes across as kind of a tool when interviewed. He seems very arrogant and cocky. Why are the we hate beard crowd silent on golden?

Taking the moral high ground is not as good of a story. People in college basketball knew what a scumbag he was. Kent Benson would not root for IU while he was there. IU never should have hired him in the first place.
He sent obscene pictures from his phone to multiple women. It is hard to argue that did not happen. His only real defense would be that they are not of him and not from his account. And that seems hard to dispute.
And golden is any better. The allegations are very serious and we are to believe all women! The championship is tainted

The last couple of minutes Florida was just crashing out on them on the perimeter. I kept yelling, pump fake and go!
How many poor perimeter shots the first half? Had they hit half of those they would have been up by 20 at the half.
As connected as Florida's D was, I doubt that would have made it any better. Almost every time they did drive late game they ended up turning the ball over.
Florida did a great job not allowing the ball handler any space off ball screens, off ball players covered the passing lanes and their rotations if they did get space were almost perfect. Houston took bad jump shots because that's all the defense was allowing them to take. When they did drive, Florida's help was always there.
Horrible spacing the majority of the game from Houston but some of the credit also goes to Florida's D. Houston playing a dinosaur offense with two bigs that can't shoot plays into that also.
