That great Nebraska team

We have a top 10 pick and another NBA prospect. Archie needs to get more out of the rest of the players. Rutgers offense tore up the Nebraska defense.

We are very likely to lose at rutgers as well. I dont see any road wins at this point.

I’m guessing many people on this board never played a sport in college, let alone an NCAA Division 1-3 sport. They don’t know how much work these D1 kids put into what they do.

So, as a former college athlete, when I see individual players get ripped, it’s a little irritating.

All that said, what’s equally irritating is seeing athletes that put in the work squander their opportunities by not putting in the effort when playing.

Shocked I’ve seen that from IU the past few games.

Where does the edge or chip on the shoulder come from now? You got two captains that need to motivate and lead.

Big Ten is a bitch as usual, especially on the road. However, we are starting to see the separation between contenders and pretenders.

Teams that fear having to face someone on the road are usually teams that aren’t very good. Very good teams rise to the challenge...the contenders. They stay focused on playing to their potential, regardless of the environment. Remember those teams? They’e affectionately thought of today as simply, “The Glory Years” in the annals of IU basketball (as we once knew of it).

I have seen "soft" used to describe the team. I hope they are talking about their play and not their ability to play through injury.

We have been playing soft. We attacked Marquette. The movement and action was towards the goal and not side to side waiting for an opening. We have to force our will and make the defense react. We have been letting the defense force us into unproductive things. Dribbling from side to side or slow passes won't break down the defense. We have to learn where a defense can be exploited and execute properly. I don't feel the players can make those adjustments on the court

Romeo likes to sit back and wait for others to score early. He needs to find a way to score early. Smith had a quick start Saturday. He needs to get the ball moving toward the basket. Using him on some pick and rolls with Morgan ready to receive a pass or clean up with a rebound basket would put pressure on the defense. We need to soften up the defense, not soften our offense.

On defense, let's get ready early and stop giving up early possession layups. Send the message early that we have the will and are bringing the effort to make it difficult.

I think the disheartening think is we don't look excited to play! 'm glad we don't have guys pounding their chests but we need to see some excitement to be playing. Clifton Moore is the only guy I see that looks excited and plays excited when he comes in the game. Davis has tried to play with an edge but he is so limited.

Since I heard a comment that Smith's dad tweeted something about the team, I have been looking for signs of a bad locker room.

I played on a team that was divided. It was ugly and came apart quickly. I'm not sure that has happened here. The fire seems to have gone out. We should know more tonight. We are as healthy as we are likely going to be and have had more time for some to recover Whatever is going on seems to be between the ears and less with the health of the team.

I heard Jeff Rabjohns say something that put things in perspective. If the B1G had a full team player draft (12 players) who on IU, besides Morgan and Langford , would make it? Also, we’re very easy to defend since nobody can hit 3’s.

This is a great question. This is pure speculation on my part, but it looks like the team is playing scared right now. Furthermore, there is zero chemistry between the guys on the floor.

There's little to no emotion when things are going well (which, unfortunately, is a rare occurrence lately).

The team looks like it is going out onto the floor expecting to lose. When they are playing well and something goes wrong, this team panics, implodes, and can't stop the bleeding.

Shooting is obviously a problem. So is size. But there are far less talented teams out there, including in the Big 10, that can absolutely destroy this IU team based on the fact that this team looks mentally lost.

It starts with the leaders. They have to demand more from everyone, including the coaches. The thing is, nobody will listen to these leaders if the leaders themselves aren't putting out max effort and playing well.

If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be toxic. The culture looks toxic. Not because there are bad kids on the team. Not at all. It's just that these guys haven't turned the corner when it comes to 1) expecting to win every time they step on the floor; 2) learning how to execute that expectation.

Agree with all these points. The guys that have been playing through pain are tough guys. It's not easy to play hurt at this level of competition. It's just not.

IU has the bodies that can compete with physicality right now. What they don't have is the right, aggressive mentality.

If you can't shoot well, make it up for it with lock-down defense. Both rebounding and defense are about effort and this team is utilizing about 50% of its effort reserves in those categories during this losing streak.

Don’t really get the draft reference. Having two of the top 12 is pretty good. Would any team claim to have three? The lack of shooting is quite valid.
