Hall of Famer
With one swing of the bat, the 2014 Indiana (44-15) baseball season came to a close as Stanford (34-24) shortstop Tommy Edman hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cardinal a 5-4 win in the Bloomington Regional finale at Bart Kaufman Field on Monday. Stanford moves on to play Vanderbilt in the Super Regionals this weekend.

The Hoosiers took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth after scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth.
Stanford's Wayne Taylor singled to centerfield to begin the Cardinal ninth. After a sac bunt moved over pinch-runner Drew Jackson to second, the left-handed-hitting Edman connected with the first pitch he saw from IU reliever Scott Effross and launched it over the right field wall for the win.

Indiana jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on. Kyle Schwarber connected two-run homer for his 14th long ball of the season.

The weather then wreaked havoc, causing a two hour and 51 minute rain delay.

When play resumed, Stanford's first two batters in the bottom of the third reached vis a single and hit by pitch. Alex Blandino then singled to bring home Edman from second. Zach Hoffpauir later brought in the Cardinal's second run of the game with an RBI single as the third inning closed with IU in front 3-2.

Stanford tied the ballgame in the sixth when Dominic Jose hit a pinch-hit solo home run over the right field wall off of Indiana's Thomas Belcher.

For the second straight night, the Cardinal used late inning magic to hand Indiana just its second loss this season in games when the Hoosiers had a lead going into the ninth inning, both to the hands of Stanford in the last two nights.

Schwarber went 3-for-4 in the game including his two-run homer. For the regional, Schwarber hit .588 (10-for-17) with two home runs, seven RBI with a slugging percentage of 1.118.

Dedelow, a freshman, also had a three-hit night going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Donley also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-5.

Belcher threw 4.2 innings for Indiana in relief and gave up just one run on five hits with four strikeouts.

Go Hoosiers!
