I know CKW likes to delay announcements to limit flips, but right now I see where we're ranked and it makes me a little skittish.

I'd assume we'd be in the 40-50's ranked area, but we're down with the Texas States, Middle Tennessee's, Arkansas States, and Louisiana Techs of the world.

Is this "early" lag just part of our new strategy?

Did the delayed lack of extension take a toll?

Is my concern misguided?

I am concerned also. We did get a couple high profile transfers and the juco QB we needed. We need to close strong like we have the last couple of years.

It wasn't going to be as highly rated as the last few anyway due to it being a smaller class (not that we'd be up by Bama otherwise, but only having like 12 commits currently really hurts us in the Rivals rankings), and I'm sure no extension didn't help. With that said, the current rankings are meaningless. We always do well leading up to signing day and have several spots to fill. We've got a bunch of good players visiting, including guys that we annually wait for to decommit from other places. Wait and see what it looks like on Feb. 3.

Exactly, a lot of the teams in front of us have 18-20 commits (if not more). If we just got 6 more fairly low rated guys, we'd probably jump from being ranked in the 90's to the 60's. And we could probably manage a high 40's/low 50's ranking if we could snag a few high 3 star type of recruits. Not a great class by any means, but we're not going to finish with the Texas St type schools

As others have indicated it may not be too bad in the end. A couple posters reminded me last month that Bowen 3*, Thompson 3* and in some publications a 4*, Lagow 3* and Green 4* do not count towards the rankings. I believe I have that info correct (??). I see that Collin Miller has an official visit with Nebraska at the end of this month. That concerns me, would have liked to have IU as his last visit. Things happen, will be okay. The biggest catch Imo so far is Tom Allen.

Just posted on other recruit post...I believe IU very well may be in the mix for some higher tier candidates who candidly may have IU 3rd behind some big boys, but they may get caught in a numbers game or realize that an Auburn or Florida just took 5 4-star LB's and maybe they'd be better off coming to a B10 school that needs help, has a former SEC coach as new DC and you'll be playing MSU, UM, OSU, Iowa every week. Plus, IU has been sending players to NFL now for 2-3 straight years.

Not worried and convinced they are going to end with a strong final 7-10 signees. Love reading about them on signing day and don't think Wilson & staff are going to lay an egg, but rather in fact just the opposite.
