Especially the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. Prayers for you all.
Those are the ones that need to stay safe but everyone else can help by practicing good health practices. If the isolation really helps or a vaccine that works it can die out quickly.
Unfortunately that is most likely wishful thinking. The experts that are talking on TV tonight are talking about this going on for perhaps the next six months if we attack this aggressively. There’s talk of half of the United States population eventually being affected by this. And if it happens in a big spike it is going to overwhelm the system.
A friend of mine is a nurse in the cardio unit at University of Miami Hospital. Within the last two weeks they stopped doing open-heart surgery. And the nurses are being retrained to deal with coronavirus patients. They’re wearing these spacesuit like outfits with masks and helmets and boots and gloves over the inner garments. And they’re all freaked out because they don’t have back up equipment. Nurses are hoarding masks. They don’t have enough gowns. Forget about thoughts and prayers on this one.
Please don't even talk about a vaccine at this point in time. No matter what you've heard from <fillintheblank>, that isn't going to happen for at least a year, and 18 months is probably the best best.
This groups are preparing for the worst, not what is happening so far. It is a case of better prepared than come up short. I think it is telling that there are no 9 and under deaths around the world so this virus isn't very well understood at this point. At one point today out of the 41 deaths in the USA were from a nursing home in Washington state. That leaves just one death so far so the likelyhood it will be as severe as some are saying isn't very accurate. We have had 20,000 flu deaths this year without the over the top predictions this virus has had. The big problem is this virus is not very well studied at this point and they are unsure of its impact in the USA.
