In a loss to Illinois, Indiana went to the free throw line just nine times, making a respectable seven. But on a team where free throw shooting could ease the generally accepted poor overall shooting, just one player averages even 0.700 on free throws amoung those attempting 1 per game. 0.725 is the leading percentage in that category. That is not good enough to win close games. On a defensive team that struggles to find and hit jump shots, close games are perhaps the best case scenario.

IU must get better at free throw shooting. At this point, getting to the line and making foul shots should be a big part of the equation for minutes.

Generally speaking, poor shooters are also poor free throw shooters! Unfortunately, right now we have 1 shooter! Thank goodness for Armaan Franklin!
