Much debate last year about Herron getting to the rotation or redshirting. Interested to see how Gardner and Herron do this spring. Battle at RG spot between Gardner, Herron and Bailey will be good to follow.
Wish CB were more of a battle. Only darkhorse would be Laray Smith. Padmore would be in the rotation by now if the staff were that high on him. Guessing Fant has the field corner spot locked down and the boundary corner position will be between Mullen, Clark, and Smith. Smith has the perfect frame and speed so might I'll go with him winning that position. Would like to see Kiante Walton move down though.
Hoff and Green will both play obviously, but surprised Hoff beat out Green last year. Hoff actually, as a redshirt freshman, put up better numbers than Replogle did as a sophomore, so he could be a really good one.
Middle linebacker. I'm sure it'll be a rotation but between Scales, Oliver, Gooch and Oliver, that's a tough competition. I think out of those 4, whoever plays the majority of snaps would have All Big Ten potential.
Wide receiver competition won't be near as good in the spring as it will in the fall. Wondering how Cobbs and Booth stack up against Hawkins on the outside. But Harris doesn't really have any competition yet.
Safety, I think Dutra gets beat out by Fields or Walton, but that'll be a good battle, assuming Walton doesn't get moved to CB.
Can't really think of any other close battles.
