Well..., that was embarrassing... 😞
Turns out marksmanship truly is a diminishing skill... I didn't lead my target properly and just put 3 finger sized holes in the end of what appeared in the scope as a probable red sleigh shaped drone...
Grouping was decent but the lead was so off I nearly missed the whole thing... Rapid fire Offhand without enough rounds down range over the past 24 months will get you those types of results 🙁...
My neighbors are a little irritated with me in that they now believe I'm the reason Santa will be skipping our neighborhood this year, and probably next year too...
How was I to know "the Big Guy" took shake down laps with the backup reindeer prior to the big night... First I'd heard of it... 😖🙉
At any rate, I'm certain I made an impression on that particular drone jockey... Doubt we'll see him in these parts again in the near future...

1) I don't think its our military. It's too visible. They'd be doing this shit in places like Area 51 if it was US military
2) These drones are huge, apparently able to carry a big payload. Can't buy these at Best Buy.
3) Evidently they're pre-programmed, because they aren't receiving or sending any electronic signals (per the reporting Ive heard)
4) They're not 'doing' anything. Just hanging out.
Just based on the above, I'd say it's a PR stunt to wake up our military or draw attention to the fact that anyone can fly these things wherever they want and we can't stop them without shooting them down. And we're scared to shoot them down for fear they're fall on people.
I think it's some group of smart guys - like MIT grads - that have the resources and technical know-how to pull it off.
Thing is, it's not just happening in the US. There are reports of them appearing over military bases in Europe.
Maybe we could invent something like....oh, I don't know... RADAR to actually keep track of them?
