just continue to underperform.
About 1/6 of the D1 schools are making changes this year.

Many of these schools have little tradition or expectations to win, and thus have a hard time attracting a coach.

I hope IU does not wait as long as the average to change the course. This season upcoming is make or break time for Archie’s Hoosiers. There has been no progress yet. Three years at Montana St is much different than 3 yrs at Indiana University.

Arcie will really have to overachieve to get this team in the NCAA because on paper it does not look like an NCAA team. But that is where at after two underwhelming seasons. He it either going to have to win next year or bring in one heck of a recruiting class. If neither happens things will get ugly.

Much better.

We can now talk about the factors that could "make" and the factors that could "break" the season.

I will start by saying that most of the backcourt is returning and will also include a solid combo freshman in Franklin. If Anderson begins to contribute and Green plays more like he did in the last 6 games, they could be overall a better backcourt than last year.
For one, I think you can immediately expect more scoring from all 3 primary guards.

As the team stands ..
They'll make the tournament ...
With one big Wild Card.
Jerome Hunter has to play and contribute. To the tune of 10 a game..
If we add no others..And he doesn't..
All bets are off..

10 is a lot, otherwise I mostly agree.

If Hunter can play extended minutes he should be a big help because his scoring range is big.

So you take a post you made and start a thread?

Since Brad has "Gone Fishin", is his family happy in New England?

Sometimes posters with a slow start just continue to underperform.

And he hasn't even hit year 3 yet!:p:D

Am I missing something? Hunter hasn't really played since HS. I'm not sure why people think he's going to come right in and be a factor. He obviously has / had a serious leg condition.

I've been saying the same thing but it falls on deaf ears. One guy said he will be our leading scorer so good luck convincing some otherwise.

Well that guy is an Archie Apologist… If you build up the players enough and the coach is a failure you can take the blame off of the coach and blame the players for not shooting well enough not defending well enough not buying into the system or maybe claiming that they only care about making the pros.

like was done to Romeo...

However they do also not correlate that no big time recruits want to come anymore.

Well, everyone wants to be optimistic, but Arch is making it difficult. Surely this 20 yr span of mediocrity can't continue much longer..

And this is why we call you an emotional bitch every few minutes...What Archie may or may not accomplish in the next couple years is not tied to IU hiring Davis, Sampson, Crean...but we get your reptilian brains prefers to keep it real simple lol

I suppose we are counting on steps up from last year's freshmen and Sophomores, but that looks like a tourney rotation to me. Gaining a TON of height on the inside. I don't know if you have ever played against someone 5 inches or more taller than you, but it makes everything more difficult. Freshmen PG become Sophomores (and he was pretty excellent for a Freshman). The two possible issues are guard depth and possibly shooting (Green was a better shooter than Romeo, anyway, but I digress). Considering we had a top 25 D with a severe size disadvantage, it could be argued we should expect much better D this season. I guess I just don't get all the doom and gloom. Overall, the roster seems to have slightly improved, to me. The two we lost (especially Morgan) will be tough to replace, but it's a team sport.

The Archie era certainly has not gone as I thought it would have so far.

Riveting stuff...

Lots of moving parts to a college basketball program. That’s why more emotionally stable folks are waiting longer than 2 years to pass final judgement...

Shhhhhhh just let them go, they are on a roll.

My favorite is the 'we are losing the two best players and we can't shoot' statement....when the main reason why our shooting numbers were awful was because our two 'best players' missed a massive, team leading amount of threes.

When Archie started he had what, maybe 40% of the roster were ranked kids. This year that jumps to over 80% with only Green and Durham as unranked kids.

Plus we're getting a little older and better balanced.

They won't all hit but we have more options with some talent at each position.

Gotta keep building on it.

Year 1 was a transitional year.
Year 2 was an improvement and was one game away from making the tourney.

Year 3 should be a solid tourney team and it keeps building.

This 20 year span could get worse I guess. People are actually debating if IU even belongs in the Big Ten anymore.
The only people saying that are a few idiots on message boards. This one for sure, probably others.

You know it’s the off season when people start overvaluing returning players and downplaying the ones leaving. The field goal field percentages for our 4 returning guards are 40%, 40%, 36%, and 27%. Oh yeah and the defenses keyed on Morgan and Romeo and our guards still shot that poorly from the field. We’re not on a roll, we’re just being realistic.

This.

8 - 10 for Hunter is very doable..Two three's a game and one hard drive .That get's you to the line. How hards that ?
He's not a practice player..Imo he was more of a top thirty player rather than 50ish..And he has some swagger and is very confident...
