So Doyel doesn't like Dakich

He said, she said, they said, we said...tit for dat, how about that! No one should care. It's playground talk. Those days are behind us.

That was no insurrection. All I saw was a "leader" in a costumed, buffalo-horned headdress more interested in looking like a wanna-be tough guy for his updated profile pic on Facebook. It was nothing but a bunch of losers acting like they didn't know what to do once they got inside but to take selfies. "Look at me, I'm in the Capital Building where I'm not supposed to be!" Are those the ones you think are planning a Civil War? If so, "Batten down the hatches, Martha, and load the musket. Here comes two legged buffalo-man wearing war paint!"

Yeah, I know the Democrats are all about "mostly peaceful" demonstrations while Molotov cocktails burn businesses in the background. BTW, is that particular street reporter still collecting unemployment checks or is he living out of a tent in Portland now? Has he named his pet rat? Let me take a guess...Willard?
It’s no he said she said. It’s on tape. He lied. He’s done it multiple times. Not getting into your other bs.

Sorry, but I was triggered by one of your own, this "zeke4ahs" guy and his "Civil War" comment. I always like to have the final word. It makes me feel like I won something, helping me sleep better at night knowing I finished on top.
I believe I was responding to your previous comment.

I think both GD and DD are in somewhat dying industries where if you're not being edgy in one way or another, you're toast. DD to me is channeling his best post IU BK impression (I never saw BK as some great philosopher) and GD is surviving in an industry that mirrors Lake Mead with "water levels" at an all time low.

I think both are talented but they are playing to an audience that has no attention span and limited critical thinking skills. Opinions are formed now based on Facebook/Google searches or sorting info into "liberal" or "right wing" buckets. Like many other things, quality journalism simply isn't as valued when everyone has a keyboard and a microphone these days.

Like many others in entertainment, they are simply capturing their market share and being whomever their audience wants them to be until they can retire.

It’s interesting the number of sports, media people who have commented on the article, most of them saying this has been Dan for years. Not exactly giving him ringing endorsements. He’s been picking fights with personalities for years, not a surprise he’s made a lot of enemies.
I am not saying anything about Dakich... this type of hatchet piece is garbage and does not speak well of a journalist. The article itself implies malice, without the party saying "I wrote it because I was mad at him, and I hated him," which would be express malice. what is your number?

One thing seems pretty obvious to me....Dan is about to become the next Jason Whitlock. I really use to enjoy JW and even still follow him on Twitter. However, as he kept shooting himself in the foot and moving from job to job, he's slowly sunk to where he is now. Basically preaching from his internet pulpit and being about as two faced as can be. Dan is following right along in his footsteps. A shame really, at one point not too long ago, I really felt like both had some interesting points of view....now, not so much.
What’s wrong with Whitlock?

Dakich lied. He said he didn’t say it and was criticizing the Star about it. So they decided to fight back and actually play the tape. Liberal left wing Democrats hate conservative right wing Republicans? Really? Which side is planning on a Civil War?
Dumb

Dan is not a smart guy. I've listened pretty regularly over the years and he has more dead air time than anyone I've ever heard. He's either reading while stalling and mumbling or is somehow distracted. Makes me almost crash my car when he starts rambling on something like "well, that's what it is. Because it is what it is. And now you know. Because well, you know. I know too. Because everybody knows. And well, it is what it is."
DD - "like...you know...I don't know...it is what it is... you know...I don't know...." rinse, repeat.

And that’s your problem. You believe Dan. He called the son of the coach a meth head. He has had to have tapes erased multiple times for allegations. Romeo’s dad threatened to sue him, as did a UK player… Blueett maybe, for his lies.
I believe it was the son of the school board member, and not by name. DD definitely had the rant. DD also said he went to church and had the revelation to get off of twitter, permanantly. This was when the ESPN firing was happening. Two months later, with no explanation or revelation, he was back on twitter. DD is a bully, an insecure bully. I am hoping for a new voice from 12-3 pm on 107.5.

ha What? Most dislike him because he's a self serving curmudgeon who likes to blame others for all of his own failures.....which the list is lengthy. To that, being an angry troll is always going to be disparaged by society which is why some, like me, didn't even know he was still in radio.
The absolute worst aspect of Dakich is what a thin skinned wanker he is on Twitter- I flat promise his list of blocked accounts is longer than those who follow him. For being as opinionated old school dude as is his
Public persona it’s bad form to block anyone who counters your opinion. But in person Dak is better than when on air or online

Dakich is fine. He’s a blow hard at times, but it’s par for the course. Doyle is a dweeb who knows next to nothing about basketball. Some Indiana fans don’t like Dakich because he’s a meany and hurts their feelings.

He's most definitely mean.

I don't think he's hurting anybody's feelings, though.

His right turn into political talk radio (I've never heard it) is a little surprising, though. I listened to Dan a long time. It seemed to me he always had a level head and a certain degree of contempt for crackpots.

Now he is one.

Having said that, Doyell writing a personal article like this is lame.

I choose to remember the announcer who had the guts to disparage the "Carolina Way" when all the rest were fawning over UNC basketball... I'll just pretend the current version never happened.

So you don’t feel like The Star has the right to defend themselves when Dakich has been lying about them and what was said?

I am not talking about the Star... it's about the Greg Doyel article... if you hate Dakich fine by me...
? The Doyel article was in the Star and I imagine they asked him to write it to defend themselves from Dakich attacks and lies.

The high school athlete that DD referred to as a methhead responded on twitter. Said his name is Andrew Slayton, and that he has a 3.9 GPA and was a starter on the bball team and all conference in football. DD owes this kid $5,000, and an apology.

This article was mostly written over politics. TMP is somewhat right in that it has kind of gotten to the ridiculous point when there is left wing and right wing sports commentary...but here we are.

Why would you say that? One paragraph was about politics. It was mainly about Dakich lying about the journalist who wrote the Star article and about his bullying tactics. People are trying to use politics to play the victim card. Dan being a victim is hilarious.

Here we are arguing over sports commentators. We all need to step away from the shallow end of the cesspool. Dakich, Doyle...they say and write this sh*t to feed their egos with the attention it brings them. Attention pads ratings. Ratings pad corporate bank accounts. We are their enablers. If you want them to go away, just ignore them, otherwise, just keep arguing their personalities and they'll be able to keep writing the twisted crap that pushes our buttons.

This argument is funny. These journalists and media have become click generators. It’s a perfect marriage between those two. They know exactly what they are doing. They make a living off discourse through meme and headline wars. Now back to my chicken wing fantasy…..

Back in my Twattering days I was blocked twice. Never understood why I was unblocked but I was.

First time was when I referred to cage fighting as human dog fighting as he was promoting some group of them. The second was when he was really upset about some fans knocking his son as a player and I correctly pointed out that he does the same thing especially to IU players.

I would say that because Dakich has been who he is for a long time. Like years and years. He has taken all sorts of shots at the Star for years. This article did not really roll out until he started to get into the Outkick stuff.

I think that was the big sin.

Just my opinion obviously but Dan's shtick has been that he is this arrogant dick on air for a long time.

Dakich is his own worst enemy. He was able to play for, and serve as an assistant to, a legendary coach. He used that to get his foot in the door as a coach but he had very little success, if you can even call it success.

In total, he racked up two NIT runs at a low level college and in the seven games he filled in at IU after Sampson was run he did virtually nothing. Nobody counts those seven games anyway but if they did it would show him losing 2 of the last 3 regular season games, a first round conf tourney exit, and first round exit in the big dance. He was fortunate to get into media.

Frankly, his best work was as an in-game analyst and he had a decent radio show for a while. Then he lost it. Turned into a shock jock for ratings. His ego tripped him up and he thought he could say anything he wanted. Never learned.

Dakich reminds me of the former high school football players that had even a modicum of success and decades later you hear them in the old home team stands on a Friday night educating anyone who will listen on how the game should be played and what's wrong with the players today. They lack the self awareness to realize nobody really cares what they think.

I no longer live in Indiana so I have never read, nor even heard of Doyle. Never met DD but remember him as a player.
I did just read the article (thanks for posting).
Regardless of whether there is truth in the article or not, I see no reason for it to be written. It certainly is critical of DD but to me speaks even worse of the author.

That reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite. The dork's brother with the tics was still living his high school quarterback days. He didn't want to give up on his big-shot jock days, passed days future-d. I imagine the thing missed most is the cheerleader poon-tang. Starting quarterbacks wrote their own tickets. They were always pals with the gym teachers...all the coaches. The hallways parted with their coming presence. They got to go places in the building other students feared to tread, else they be dead.

Personally, I was a cross country nerd. It wasn't a cool sport back then and barely is now. I never made it past junior high, I was just that good. It was short legs...had 'em them as I have 'em now.

Doyel weaves politics into a lot of his writings.... and seems very passionate about it, often. I quit reading/ listening to either one, as they are both obnoxious as hell.

I'll give it to Dan.... he says all the time if you don't like what he's saying.... turn him off, so I did. No big deal to me if he wants to branch off into sports/politics combo. I'm sure his audience will be larger than Doyel.

I agree that both are political, but Doyel rights many human interest stories that are not. I looked up a column he wrote on his anxiety and depression in 2017 and that’s when I really noticed a change in the kind of stories he writes. I enjoy most of them. I turned Dan off years ago due to the way he treats people, long before he veered off into politics.

He is just being himself- an arrogant, insecure, douchebag, mean bully
