I found Dakich pretty good when he called games for ESPN, his radio show on the other hand, I found to be garbage.
Doyle is just as big of a clown himself so he has no room to be attacking others.
Their public feud is pathetic, and every time someone goes at Dakich he seems to gain steam. I don’t know the ratings, but the fact that people take his business plan personally is just kind of weak. (lowest common denominator Jerry Springer)

Doyel changed markedly awhile back IMO, for the positive.
Why don’t you like Doyel? I think some of his stories and writing the last several years has been stellar. He finds some really interesting small human interest stories to highlight. I used to think he was an asshat.
Umm… no he didn’t. He is the definition of why MSM (on both sides) suck. He is grossly frantic with his hyperbole, and he isn’t even consistent. He could have a long winded overly dramatic article saying why IU is about to be national champions again followed a week later by a long winded overly dramatic article saying IU may never win another game because they lost to [Insert Team Name].

Dakich is fine. He’s a blow hard at times, but it’s par for the course. Doyle is a dweeb who knows next to nothing about basketball. The rift with Dana HunsingerBenbow could refer to one of the jokes you are asking about. Regardless, DD has called her a liar for saying he called a Scottsburg HS basketball player a "Methhead". The radio station has deleted the audio but Dana put the original recording out on twitter. Dakich clearly said the coach's son is a "methhead". Additionally, he made comments about the entire community being full of drugs and meth. IMHO, there are not many sports fans interested in hearing that type of bs.
You might want to learn the difference between a columnist and a journalist.
Well, he's a columnist, which means he writes human interest stories and opinion pieces, not reporting. That being said, he injects a lot of political opinions into things he writes and is basically criticizing Dakich for doing the same on OutKick; because his political opinions are different. I personally love the stories that Doyel writes most of the time, and take his occasional forays into politics with a grain of salt.
I think both of their lives sound terrible.
He writes opinion pieces all the time. You do know that journalists are allowed to do that? And as I said , he wrote many excellent human interest stories. You have the right to think he’s an asshat and I certainly disagree.
That’s so silly. I stopped listening to Dan when he threatened to get an intern fired. He preaches being a tough guy then blocks anyone who disagrees with him. He’s a liar and he’s a bully. It’s about time he got called out for it.
Doyel was here in Charlotte before Indy. I didn't like his style, but I did think he was a pretty talented writer, although one that often I felt allowed his personal opinions and attitudes influence too much of what he wrote. But, when I've read his stories over the last year or so, I did feel like I noticed less of his old moodiness. I don't see enough of it to make a judgement, but I did have that thought.
Just last week Travis was denying the 10 year old rape story. I don’t know much about Outkick , but Travis is pretty out there.
I agree that journalists do that all time. I’m saying that’s one of the big issues with MSM. They can’t ever just give the whole story. Has to be half truths to influence the audience in a certain direction.
I’m talking about the two jokes delivered recently that Greg claims will lead to his firing. Curious to hear the jokes.
He wrote a piece after his divorce really laying a lot on the line. Talked about his depression and how he felt he needed to write about more positive human interest stories and stop attacking. I used to enjoy listening to he and DD. Lots of sports people from Emmis, Colts, IU and PU commenting on the story. I think DD is widely looked at as an egomaniac jackass. It’s a shame as I really enjoyed his interviews and his basketball analysis.
This stuff never works against someone like Dakich. It’s like flys on shit, they will just accumulate. He knows this and it’s part of his business model. It’s not coincidence he lands on Outkick and is having success. It’s predictable actually.
Yeah but it came up again because earlier this week he lied about saying it and the reporter from the Star shared the tape. But no idea if that’s the joke …
I guess it depends on your definition of success. From ESPN to Outkick doesn’t seem like a good business trajectory to be. But I admittedly don’t know much about Outkick.
I bet he makes more at Outkick. They are killing it from a business perspective while ESPN is getting crushed.
He may be smart but he gets in trouble all the time for stupid stuff he says. I don’t believe that’s planned. I didn’t realize Outkick also involves sports gambling. Probably not a good thing for Dan either.

I know it’s years old. I explained why it’s in the news lately , which is also why I assume Gregg wrote the column.
You could say that depending on where you sit in these discussions. Definitely right wing. I personally would not consider fringe right wing Qanon, etc. They definitely support Trump, but Dakich himself calls trump a pig all the time.
