Smith is accepting his "role", and he is improving as a result. Green will need to accept his "role" when Rob returns, to be effective.
From my eye test and truthfully I never played the game on any level except playground basketball I would say Romeo is a very good defender. If someone said he was better than Rob I have no problem with it. He has more length and is just as fast."This is to say Smith hasn’t distinguished himself as either IU’s third scoring option or as a tertiary defensive presence for the Hoosiers behind Morgan and freshman guard Romeo Langford."
I don't agree with how they worded that. I assume they aren't suggesting Romeo is better than Phin defensively?
Rob is playing PG not the 2 or 3 like Romeo. Rob also sets up the offense in the 1/2 court and also prevents mistakes, TO, and has batter shot selection. From my eye test and truthfully I never played the game on any level except playground basketball I would say Romeo is a very good defender. And not excessively turn the ball over.He did a hell of a job on the hotshot Michigan freshman.
Green just needs to improve his shot selection.
He could be an excellent defender. He's obviously not very enthused about playing D and appears to do the minimum at times. He'll coast when he's off the ball, knowing that he can get away with it. Great player, don't get me wrong, but he's not a better defender. From my eye test and truthfully I never played the game on any level except playground basketball I would say Romeo is a very good defender. I feel Romeo would defend a PG differently than who he is usually defending. I always felt you can and should be more aggressive defending the PG. One objective of defending the PG is to make it hard for them to move the ball where they want it. One reason Syracuse was so successful in 2013 was they pressured with length and made it difficult for Hulls and Yogi to get the ball to Zeller or to the wings. We didn't create good passing angles and we spent too much time tossing the ball side to side without moving the defense or creating passing lane.sHe could be an excellent defender. That has nothing to do with defenseRob is playing PG not the 2 or 3 like Romeo. Rob also sets up the offense in the 1/2 court and also prevents mistakes, TO, and has batter shot selection.
