Should we fire or extend?

I posted this in a thread on the b'ball board, but felt it belonged here. Here's my view about extending or firing CKW:

CKW inherited a wreck. Almost 50% of the team left once they learned the demands he was requiring in order to build a winning program. Year after year you can see the improvement in physicality and competitiveness.

No question we improved on offense quickest because that is his expertise. It's been speculated the Mallory hire on defense was a forced one. I guess we can fault CKW for not involving himself more on the defensive side, but he finally made the tough call and pulled in a DC with a history of building successful programs.

We need to keep in mind it's only Knorr's 2nd year and he needs the bodies to compete. We've had a rash of injuries and a few key defections in the secondary that would have made a huge impact this year. We're playing true freshmen and you can see the athleticism. Unfortunately due to inexperience there are still too many key breakdowns resulting in big plays. That said, if you can't see the improvement on defense throughout the year then you're blind.

It would be ludicrous to get rid of CKW. He has built a foundation the right way with players who work year round to be the best they can be. We don't see anybody moping around after a loss, but instead see them come out ready to fight week after week because they believe. They believe because Coach has instilled that in them.

With just a little more experience we'll see the defense step up. Six of our 10 recruits for next year are on the defensive side of the ball. We're still after some top notch recruits. Our current secondary will make big jumps during the off-season, both physically and mentally. Just keep the momentum going and we'll be fine.
