Seth Davis says it's Porter Moser

Of all the coaches that have been talked about as possibilities...I’d have Moser probably last on my list. And he’s probably the only one I’d actually be “upset” about.

Before the Final Four run, his resume was horrible. He wasn’t good at three different schools.

And on top of it, his teams play a boring, slow style. They’re usually good defensively, average offensively.

We just fired a better coach than Moser at coaching that style.
He does have a personality though

I like Moser alot I just know alot people are afraid of mid major guys remember you have to start somewhere.

He’s had 3 “starts” already. He was bad at Arkansas state. Really bad at Illinois State when he stepped up. And was bad at Loyola before his Final Four run. He’s been decent the last few years. But certainly not great in conference.

His teams are boring to watch. They do play a tough defensive minded style, which can work well in NCAAs. But I’ll be shocked if they paid 10 million to get rid of Archie...for someone that has largely had worse results, at smaller schools. Makes zero sense.

Paying "$10 million to get rid of Archie," (not exactly accurate, but OK) and hiring the new coach are two different events. Even if Moser is hired, I doubt that this was known at the time Archie was let go.

This. The $10m was simply to get out of a bad situation. Unless it comes out later, there was prolly no guarantee of anyone for the $10m. Most were in position of 'we need a change' and let the cards fall where they may. Not sure why many are so stuck on this $10m --- it was done and whoever did it prolly had no one in mind, just a need for a change. Without the buyout, there is no change and no possibilities....

How about Musselman and then Justin Smith can transfer back with a better coach.Maybe that will inspire nobody to transfer out

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the "Home Run Hire" ship has sailed. If Dolson had a home run hire, he'd have announced it already. I suspect he's been reduced to looking for guys that can bunt & keep it on the field, since no one wants to deal with the level of delusion that exists in Btown.

I would imagine the guy that coughed up the $10+ Million feels like he's been scammed, since Dolson still has no idea, who's going to take the job. You may get Crean 2.0. Good Luck, the world is watching with amusement.

It'd be a historically stupid choice, good god, pay Fife or Woodson first. Are we gonna sell a lot of posters of a fat ass looking porn star dunking on people at the union.

FYI, GFY.

I don't have any real connections at IU, but my wife has family that has been involved with Villanova athletics for decades. They're not happy right now, but IU fans are going to be very soon.

I don't buy the Moser stuff at all, Im very confident something big is coming tomorrow.

Why would Nova fans be unhappy? They are down a little, but still good.

I really hope not. That would be a disaster. The .500 in the Mo Valley.
Yeah, not sold on Moser. He's done pretty well the last 2-3 years, but not a stellar career. If he comes, we'd just be settling for something different, not an upgrade, not a home-run hire.

We've hired "coaching experience" for 20 years now, and the results are awful. Maybe it's time to hire an "IU guy" and see what happens.

C'mon Dolson. Hire Woodson. Git'er done!

I would be shocked if it was Moser. Most of his resume isn't good. Basically he is Archie again with less of a track record. Although he is more animated than Archie and that might play well with fans and players. And if it is Moser, the only reason I can think of would be a cost-saving move, they couldn't pay him top coach money with his resume.

IU guy? Who wouldn’t be a major risk with little or no college recruiting or coaching experience? Need a consistent big winner who wants a new challenge or if unable to get then ayoung exciting dynamic recruiting coach who is ready to move up
and is given time to build Recruiting is where it is in college basketball in this era

The absolute KEY is winning in year 1.....if Porter can bring some players maybe it’s ok. You absolutely can’t take a dump in year 1.

Our next coach will get a pass for the 1st three years.
Because, you know, Crean.

Or so, that’s what I’ve been told for years.
