Big believer that in BBall and FBall, having great senior leadership can go a long way.

Here's who will be 4th or 5th year seniors this spring into fall:

2019 Spring Football Roster
# FULL NAME POS HT. WT. CL HOMETOWN / HIGH SCHOOL PREVIOUS SCHOOL
6 Hale, Donavan WR 6-4 225 5th Largo, Fla. / Largo

28 Riggins, A’Shon DB 6-0 188 Sr. Hamilton, Ohio / Hamilton
29 Bryant, Khalil DB 5-10 200 Sr. Jacksonville, Fla. / First Coast
54 Cronk, Coy OL 6-5 321 Sr. Lafayette, Ind. / Central Catholic
99 Stallings IV, Allen DL 6-2 246 Sr. Maywood, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest

What I find interesting is 14 (of 15) of these seniors should be starting or playing a lot and contributing. That's a good amount who want to end their careers going to a bowl, beating PU and seeing the IU program turn around. These are players who will have played in a lot of games, not panic and be able to lead by example. I'd also say somewhere between 5-7 "may" have a shot at playing on Sundays, which yes, is also motivation for having a great final year. (FYI: only player of list who I don't think is in rotation or will play is Jake Hednershot - who isn't Peyton Hendershot!)

This isn't a top to bottom, Alabama or Clemson like list, I understand that. But I do think IU has much more talent in the Junior - true incoming FR classes who can be special. But I believe among these 14 are true leaders who want to help set the example for IU to get back to bowling!

Football is a little different than basketball where you look to upperclassman both on and off the field. In football, since there are so many guys, your upperclassmen tend to lead the way in game week/game day prep, off season workouts, practice etc, but in games, the leadership can come from a wide variety of players and positions.

From what I've heard, Andre Brown has really become a big time leader in the off season workouts. Cronk had a death in the family and has been away for a bit but I expect he will be a leader as well this season. Will be interesting to see of the underclassmen, who really steps up.
