DiNardo was less than impressed with IU’s running backs. Referred to them as journeymen.

Generally, I never find the bus tour all that insightful, especially DiNardo. They pretty much focus on returning impact players. If they talk about anyone potentially having a breakout season, they don't have one, and either ignore or downplay guys that do have a breakout season. I think Jordan Howard was described as something along the lines of an adequate RB.

My question is pretty basic. If he could adequately judge football talent, wouldn't he still be coaching? Not like a retirement after a long storied coaching career full of success and championships.

I'm not a huge DiNardo fan, and his opinions are at times suspect, but in my view he comes across as generally credible and usually sounds like he knows what he's talking about. Glen Mason, on the other hand, is unwatchable.

We'll see what kind of speed this off-season has provided Ellison and Gest.

Not sure whether Walker has been active in the conditioning program . . . but he seemed a pretty good physical specimen as a high school kid anyway. What's the scuttlebutt regarding this kid anyway . . . anything from fall camp starting to filter through?

Different skill sets

Note: every year the big 10 gets IU out of the way before there is any live scrimmaging. I get it. They will visit the upper tier when they have more practices behind them. He was looking at the guys who were not very memorable last year. Safe bet on his part.

Time will tell.

On paper we have a fairly solid group of RB's on hand. Whether or not they chose to hit the hole with violent intent (intending to "explode" thru and run over, through and past anyone in view), is entirely up to them; as is whether they chose to hang onto the football at all costs, at all times...

With the depth we seemingly have at RB I would think that the playing time versus pine time factor would be a serious motivational tool.

I'm wondering about Walker as well........I haven't heard anyone, including the BTN guys, Allen or DeBord, or the media generally, mention him publicly since practice started. Howard and DeBord both did mention Scott, so he might be a sleeper.

As far as the freshmen go, Pennix & Taylor seem to be generating the most enthusiasm Westbrook specifically mentioned Taylor & Jaylin Williams as talented CBs. Allen is talking about using Taylor at multiple positions on O and in the kicking game as well.

I'd rather be locked in a well-used pink vomitorium than watch Glen Mason and Mike Hall together.

Maybe a different skill set, but I suggest there is overlap. As far as I am concerned, whatever skill set he has is clearly inadequate for coaching or being a TV football pundit.
