Resting Sudfeld and Howard until they are healthy or able to play at a high level was the right decision for the team for the long run. Getting them further dinged up and unable to play next week by playing them this week was difficult to watch today but is the right thing to do to maximize wins for a bowl berth. Who knows how Sudfeld would have performed with limited/no mobility would have made him an easy target for PSU especially with Howard out of the lineup.
I am hopeful both will play next week or at least Sudfeld as next week is a winnable game. I am also pleased with the play of Cameron. With more seasoning, he could turn into a reasonable backup. We will see.
The Latham penalty negating the 1st quarter PSU turnover changed the game. We lost the momentum we had up to that point. We have to learn that someone must step up to change the momentum when the team needs the stop.
