So God appears before Gordon Hayward and says "Gordon, I know you're still haunted by your last shot not going in against Duke, but I'll make you a deal. I will go back in time and allow the shot to go in and in return you must pass on ever playing professional basketball. That means no $127 million deal you just made with Boston. What's your answer? You want the winning shot or the money?"

What do you think Hayward would say and how about you? I saw Hayward in a Bleacher Report video about this shot and I think he's totally haunted by it. As a fan I often think about the game in terms of what if they had won?

One aspect people don't mention much is Coach K directed his player to miss that last free throw leading to the last second miss by Gordon. Coach K would have been grilled by that gamble. I honestly think if the Hayward shot had gone in it would have been the greatest shot made in basketball history. And the Matt Howard screen would have been the greatest ever screen. Butler would have walked home to their campus escorted by police and fans holding the trophy. Would have, could have......didn't.

I guess the other question from the Hayward POV, is he more haunted by the last second shot from half court or the baseline miss with 5 seconds left?

Gotta go with the cash on that one..

Now if you asked him post game in the locker room, likely would be a different answer since he didn't know how things would develop for him in the pro game..

Dude, this isn't a even a question. "Hey, Hef, would you be willing to give up all these decades of banging hot skanks for a chance to go back and get that one girl in college that got away?"

If Gordon's aunt had balls, she'd be his uncle, er something.
Show me the money.

Yeah, even I have to go with the money. It's the shot with 5 seconds he really should have hit, you're right there. The half court one would have been unbelievable and gone down as one of the greatest. But still....money.

That is a good question to ask Keith Smart. Smart made the shot and didn't get the cash. Hayward missed the shot and got the cash. Who would you rather be? I'd rather have the cash and the career if it weren't possible to have both.
