May be time for us to get off our moral high horse & hire a proven winner!
I like Rick as a coach, but Pitino the person is a whole different story
Problem is the sampson fiasco kills any chance of a guy like thatMay be time for us to get off our moral high horse & hire a proven winner!
I find it quite hard to believe also!Pitino and Sampson are both habitual cheaters and proven losers.
I can't believe that makes it onto an IU basketball board.
That might actually get Bob Knight to talk about IU. Cmon you guys are better than that. So, it's time to hire a guy who has arranged for players to get cars, strippers and/or sex at two schools at least (Hawaii and Louisville), who has had one scandal after another, has had a national title vacated due too his dirty dealings and has not only run afoul with the NCAA, but the DOJ?
As good a coach as Rick Pitino is, he is an exponentially worse human being. He has cheated as a coach at all levels, he has cheated as a husband, he has cheated as a human being and the worst part of it all, he takes as little accountability as one can regarding all those things. He is a textbook sociopath who I wouldn't want anywhere near anything or anyone I care about.

I agree it's not an ideal hire. Still, this program has hit a point over the last 20 years, that perhaps it's time to do away with ideals. UNC, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky and so on do not care about "doing things the right way". No they care about winning...recruits, media, fans they don't care either. Just an old guard of "holier than thou" Hoosiers. It's not 1987 anymore. The American culture has changed & it may be time Hoosiers change as well. Cheating is not looked at the way it used to be. It just gets swept under the rug when the next big story breaks. There are two groups of teams in the NCAA: cheaters & losers. Right now we are the latter. So, it's time to hire a guy who has arranged for players to get cars, strippers and/or sex at two schools at least (Hawaii and Louisville), who has had one scandal after another, has had a national title vacated due too his dirty dealings and has not only run afoul with the NCAA, but the DOJ?

U want to win or loseOkay I'll play. Let's hire Sampson back and also put together an African American studies Department like North Carolina had. And while we're at it get the assistant coach from Louisville Who provided the recruits and players with the $1 bills for the strippers.
If you haven’t heard a whiff on duke you are hiding it from yourself.Yes, cheating exists and sometimes is rewarded. But more often than not, it's the last gasp of the desperate to try and hold onto their jobs. For every cheating winner, there are 10 cheating losers. It's also a convenient yet lazy excuse of an accusation to be levied by losers towards perennial winners. Duke is a prime target for this due to their 3 decades plus success under Coach K. Is Duke cheating? I have never seen a whiff of impropriety surrounding Duke. Does Jay Wright cheat @ Nova? How about Beilein or Ryan or Stevens or Matta or Few? These are all teams that have made or won the NCAA Championship the past decade or so. and perennially compete @ a high level. There are several other coaches and schools through that time which have built winning programs and don't cheat. Winning and cheating are not mutually exclusive, nor does cheating guarantee winning (see all the morons who were caught up in the recent FBI probes).
Proposing that hiring a known cheat in hopes that he will cheat AND win for us a cure for our basketball ills is a non sequitur, and quite frankly we are better than that.
Agree, its time, he or KS would not F it up again. KS transgressions were minor, but RP is a guarantee on winning bigMay be time for us to get off our moral high horse & hire a proven winner!
The basic problem is that we pay big money to lose, maybe the money is in consideration of cleanliness, but Crean had plenty of scandals, didn't win, and just makes us look stupid trying to pretend its Hickory High and not just D1 BBall realityI agree it's not an ideal hire. I'd say yes, think outside the boxWhat about the former Cavs coach Blatt. I’d like to see what Holberg could do with IU’s resources.
U want to win or lose
A program that takes on Pitino takes on an absolute shit storm of criticism and will likely suffer the consequences after he’s gone. Wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole.Worth a try
Umm, hire the walking dead? No thanks.May be time for us to get off our moral high horse & hire a proven winner!
Do you really want these mentors or role models for these young men? It's not about" high Horse". it's about credibility. Those two bring none of it to a program. Sampson is a better human being than Pitino though.Give Archie at least a total of four years to get his team in place. If he doesn't succeed by then. Fire him and Glass.Hire Randy Wittman as AD and get a fiery coach who is not afraid to sit a "star' on the bench.Toughness is a need in the coach as well as recruitability.
We should have gotten Chris Mack, major screw up by the Clown Glass. If I had to go that route, I'd rather go with Pearl.

I'd rather lose every game than bring back Sampson or hire a sleazeball like RP. You may not have any ethics but I do.
Your head is clearly buried.
If your ethics are so high I recommend you stop following college athletics, ethics currently have no place there.
May be time for us to get off our moral high horse & hire a proven winner!
Some are also desperate for Bruce P..... Sad!Pitino and Sampson are both habitual cheaters and proven losers.
