Rick Bozich with his thoughts regarding the ongoing Indiana coaching search and Penn State.

I thought Greg Gard was an interesting name. Almost certainly won’t be him but very possibly a name from left field. Although Kent Sterling says they already have their guy which would mean someone not currently coaching.

I'm sticking with Indiana Sports Connection. Hillbilly Monkey makes more sense.
“Carved from the sands of the Wabash River and formed into a monkey man that’s sold at the Home Goods.”

The best part about that whole podcast is his normal announcing voice isn’t a whole lot different than the voice he uses for Hillbilly Monkey. And, he may actually have more inside info than “Locked On Hoosiers” which is frightening in its own right!

Veteran reporter Rick Bozich talks about the Indiana coaching search; are there more names we can eliminate? Probably. Is anyone moving to the front? TJ Otzelberger had his buyout reduced to $4 million. Penn State in town as well.

Come on Jim. I love you, but when the first response is from dbm, it’s bad news. Just start a real post. Tire of all the BS. Please don’t be a Doyle

So you want to hire a 63 year old coach that has spent his whole career in the east and got out of coaching due to NIL changes. No thanks
Make sure you feel the same about these low level guys who have never recruited a top 50 kid, like say, Ben McCollum.

I would like to know what "already has their guy" even means here. And that is based on what? Not buying that.

I appreciate the love, but am unclear what you are saying. I cannot control who responds and when. There is also at least a month before this comes to a close. So why not talk about the possibilities? How is that not a "real post" and how is it close to being Doyel?

I know nada about the ins and outs of a coaching search, but that's what I think as well; it's a logical conclusion. If Dolson does, in fact, have his guy locked and loaded--in February--it doesn't make sense that it's a current coach.

While most were psyched about the possibility of Dusty coming to Bloomington, it never made sense to me on several levels. Logic led me to that opinion ... and logic is leading me here. I might very well be wrong, but, imo, it's sound logic.

A random 63-year-old coach is one thing ... a 63-year-old Jay Wright is a completely different ballgame.

I apologize Jim, but I did not pay enough attention that your post was Rich Bosich thoughts. I did not listen to the broadcast. Then I saw someone respond that Kent Sterling said IU already has their man. I assumed it was more BS from someone trying to just get more crap out. I really do appreciate your insight. Once again, my apologies.

I think it's Drew but if Kent says they have them locked up everybody is coaching so only Stevens, Bennett, Wright are available now.

I think the shift to having a GM role will start keeping coaches around now. Wright would be a pipe dream , but after 25 years of mediocre at best , just hope we don’t repeat.

No worries, easy to get stuff mixed up here. I greatly appreciate you!
I am not in the camp that IU already has their guy. It's just not that easy in-season. There might be a #1, 2, 3, & 4, list etc. But there are a lot of things that have to be done administratively, vetting and background searches, contract talk, dealing with the opposing school and the buyout, etc. It's not that most of it cannot get done, I just cannot imagine you could get all of that done and have a decision made. IMO.

Yeah, I am not buying this at all. Too much that has to be done and to get all of that accomplished in a week, in-season? I am just not seeing that as a possibility, and I do see the next coach as someone who is not currently coaching unless it is Tony Bennett. He could be a player here. The NIL situation that he didn't want to deal with at Virginia would not be an issue at Indiana. A - they have the money, B - the coach will have virtually nothing to do with the payouts.

Anything new new from that source since your podcast?

@Jim Coyle He said a high level booster that he trusts immensely told him that at the Purdue game Sunday. See the video here the last minute.

Yeah, nothing against Kent, but If this were true, I would expect it to come from Pete Thamel or the Star first because those are the two places IU would "leak" the info to. And for Dolson already "having his guy" and "got it done" says to me that the person is not currently coaching. That would most likely Be Tony Bennett, who is someone that Joe Hillman mentioned when he was on with me a while back.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....Tony Bennett......now there's a name that's not been thrown around much. 56 years old in June. I'd be all in. I'm prepared to be bored anyway. McCollum is one of my favorites.
