Am I disappointed with the outcome of the game? Yes. Was I angry after it was over? Yes. However, the most disappointing part is not the loss, but some of the posts on this board. "Duke was not good." "Fire Wilson." "Need new staff." "Don't extend Wilson or extend with minimal increase in salary." My favorite: "What do you expect from Indiana football." No doubt you have the righ,t on a message board, to express your opinion, but I guess I have the right to be disappointed in your opinions.
It was a close bowl game against a pretty good team that was lost in overtime. I repeat a bowl game. A step in the direction we all want. We are not where we want to be, but we are moving closer and that is what I want to see. I see serious progress in the last few years and I expect more progress in years to come. Duke was a good team that has some recent bowl history and experience. We didn't fail to make a bowl or get blown out in the bowl game, but there are people who want CKW or staff fired. Wow. We make it to the second bowl since the early 1990s and compete to a controversial end and we want to fire the coach and staff or not give them a raise? Amazing.
CKW and staff have worked hard to change the mindset of IU football players and have, in my opinion, continued to make strides in this area. Now it is up to the fans to change their mindset of "what do you expect it is Indiana football."
I am proud of players and coaches for the season they have given us and will not be negative about this game. We continue to take steps to be a better program and I, for one, appreciate what is being built.
