Saying he has never done it does not equal “what would Day's results as coach of IU or PU be this year? Day could not do what Cig did at IU, and maybe he would have sucked just as hard as Walters did”

I could similarly say cig couldn’t win at osu because he hasn’t done it if we are changing the conversation here.

It doesn't work both ways

If you win without advantages, then you can win with the advantages (Cigs going to OSU example)
If you win with advantages, then it doesn't necessarily mean you can win without those advantages. (Day at IU example)

I am not saying a coach with advantages can't be a good coach on a team without advantages. I am saying it isn't a completely safe bet that I would put money on.

On the flip side, if a coach is good on a team without advantages, I would put money on the coach being good on a team with advantages.

I see what you are saying, but it still isn’t a guarantee. Luke Fickell seemed like a sure thing after winning at cincy. But has fumbled osu and Wisconsin.

He was put in a bad spot in his one year at OSU. He was thrown into the job in late May/early June. Lost 5 major contributors (starting QB,RB,WR, LT) and a staff that wasn’t his. I’m still confused as to why he tried to fit a round peg into a square hole in Wisconsin and change the offense. His seat is starting to get hot. Replacing Longo with Grimes was a good move. Them getting back to running the ball and
controlling the los is Wisconsin football, not the air raid.

I will forever be a Luke Fickell apologist. I walked the same halls in hs as he once did. He was a frequent visitor and gave a lot back to SFDHS.

Oh. I agree on the OSU part and I honestly hope he has success. I know their recruiting director and would love to see him find success there as well.
