Kevin Wright (the new Tight Ends Coach) should be an amazing edition to an already talented coaching staff. Below is an unofficial timeline of Wright’s coaching career. (I say unofficial due to a couple of reporting contradictions in terms of dates and records.) But as best as I can piece together on short notice:

  • 1987-1990 – Assistant Coach, North Central High School
  • 1991 – Head Coach, Frankfort High School (4-5 record)
  • 1992-1998 – Head Coach, Noblesville High School (41-31)
  • 1999 – Head Coach, Trinity High School – Louisville (11-2)
  • 2000-2005 – Head Coach Warren Central High School – 71-12
  • 2006 – Head Coach, Tulsa Union – Oklahoma (7-4)
  • 2007-2008 – Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach, Western Kentucky
  • [2009-2010 – Out of coaching, back surgery]
  • 2010-2014 – Head Coach, Carmel High School (41-9)
  • 2015-2019 – Head Coach, IMG Academy (44-2)
By my math he has a career Head Coaching record of 219-65 (.771) including four IHSAA State Championships at two schools. He won three in a row at Warren Central from 2003 to 2005 and then won it again at Carmel in 2011. Several of Wright’s teams have been ranked in the Top 25 nationally.

Wright does bring two years of FBS level coaching experience to the table as well.

He is the son of Sheridan’s Bud Wright, Indiana’s all time winningest high school football coach. In 50 years Bud Wright has amassed 424 wins and 8 state championships.
