Quick Work: UL

So let's recap. Stripper scandal, entire staff, including AD ran out of town, banner taken down, still have the huge Bowen payout hanging over their heads....and they appear to be putting things together nicely

BUT, it's gonna take us several years cuz we are rebuilding. Lol.

That Glass is a heck of a salesman...major rebuild. Truth is L'ville just cares more about winning than us. We're all worried about doing things "the right way" and in the mean time just keep losing. Looks like Mack & Holtman were much better hires at this point.

Are you suprised that Glass hired the wrong guy?

I have to agree, I am starting to get concerned about Miller. Have to hope, things are on the upswing moving forward.

Ahh — we judge careers off one or two years now? How douchey...

Mack has recruits rolling in for a highly ranked class, Nwora now returning too...they have things together rather quickly following David Padgett’s interim position when he coached abt 3 of Pitino’s players, one being VJ King, and their NCAA penalties.

Still waiting for you to comment on the crazy f******* lies you told after listening to the McRoberts podcast....

Ya, some get it going faster than others. Some will hit their stride and then take a step back. Takes a few years to sort it out. People who watch basketball know that. Folks weirdly obsessed with an AD do not. Lol

It's not our fault you can't figure out Holtmann and Mack are better coaches than Archie.

Better to date at their new jobs. We’ll see about long term. They were basically all the same coach at their last job. Holtmann was barely in the tourney and Arch was barely out last year. Mack got in handily then laid an egg.

Let’s check back in on this in a couple years though I know you’ll post something each time either lands a recruit, wins a game....that’s who you are....so emotionally unstable you’re now going to obsess about Louisville and OSU. So why not make it official? Buy the jerseys. Lol

I live in southern Indiana and love IU. However, I have grown up going to UofL games and pulling for them as well as they are my second favorite team.

Mack was a very good hire by UofL. I really was surprised they could pull him with everything that has been going down with their own controversies.

I haven’t thrown in the towel on Archie. Bad year last season. There certainly were a lot of factors working against him. But it is his responsibility to get the Hoosiers going the right direction. I’m hoping he does that. Our roster make up for the 19-20 season doesn’t not give me a lot of optimism. But once again this is CAM’s job and he has the privilege of leading the Hoosiers. The buck stops with him. I hope he gets it done. I believe there needs to be considerable improvement his third year and a NCAA tourney birth to calm a majority of IU fans. However, I don’t see IU making changes even if we have another subpar year which has IU flirting with mediocrity way too often.

Go IU

You're the only one who is emotional and unable to be objective about IU basketball.

Mack has laid multiple eggs in the tournament. Mack had one good run to the Elite 8 in 2017 as an #11 seed (hey so did Archie!!!) but with much better talent and playing in a major conference. Mack as a 1 seed and as a 2 seed has failed to make it past the first weekend.

Don't get me wrong, both Mack and Holtmann are fine coaches, but both walked into better situations in terms of roster turnover. Archie inherited a team that lost it's 3 best players on a team from the year before who wasn't very good to begin with that was oversigned by 3. Archie literally had ZERO scholarships to work with to try and maneuver and finesse his roster in his first year. Holtmann inherited a team that returned their 3 best players and was able to bring recruits over from Butler. It also didn't hurt that JaQuan Lyle (a team cancer transferred out). You also have to remember that Holtmann and Matta are cut from the same Butler cloth. Their philosophies and strategies aren't identically, but a lot of the same principles Matta ran are the same that Holtmann currently runs. The transition in implementing a new system wasn't nearly as complexed as switching from Crean's system to Archie's system for the IU players.

Mack also inherited a fairly talented nucleus with a bunch of top 100 recruits on top of having several scholarships open where they were able to go out and sign some big time grad transfers. Huge difference having that kind of experience to mesh with some talented young guys as a first year head coach. Archie simply did not have that luxury in year 1.
