Yeah that team made the Sweet 16 and was 3rd in the Big Ten-we'd love that now. RMK really had a tough year here-the Pat Knight/chair kicking incident and suspension for cursing at the big donors who booed him, the Sherron headbutt/or whatever it was, the "When my time on earth is gone" speech. It only got worse in following years.
Man, out of the entire litany of RMK alleged and actual transgressions, I don't remember this one...

I think a sweet 16 next year will be disappointing. I bet we will be a top 3 seed, and really should be a final 4 caliber team. Squad is stacked, w/o any of the freshman. Watch out if they are playing.
Evans had inside position and got the rebound with 19 seconds to go and they called a foul on him
On certain IU teams. This Is one of them. Last 2 times I’ve thought this the coach got fired, so third time is a charm?

He used party with us rednecks in Unionville. He hung out with all the wrestlers. My buddy wrestled for IU. He was friggin huge. Cool goofy guy though.
He was the only thing missing on that 92-93 powerhouse squad. He should have been redshirted in 91-92 and played in 92-93. Not the opposite. Been a factor? Prolly not, but that 92-93 team needed a 7'0" 240 at the time Lindeman for size for spot minutes. 3ppg/3rpg would have been plenty for that 92/93 squad in 7 mpg.
You have to remember the year prior to 94, Indiana had arguably the best team in the country. So in comparison, IU was down.
true, for 3 straight yrs, from roughly 91-93, IU was consistently a top 5 team with a 3 yr cumulative record of 87-16 (and 46-8 in the B1G). 93-94 was the beginning of the downward slope (got worst 1995 and on) but we were still a solid team in Bailey's Sr yr, and after that season had the longest consecutive S16 streak going with 4 (and 6 of the previous 8 yrs).
Can hardly imagine going to S16 6 out of 8 years.
Hell, I think Knight only missed the tourney 4 times in his time at IU. '72, '74, '79 and '85
imagine a 3 yr run where an 'average' season was going 29-5/12-3.
And the NIT in '79. Should have won it in 85 too against Reggie Miller's Bruins.
Even when we missed the tourney, the teams were good.
And 77. That was the only year IU missed post season play altogether under RMK.
