Presidential odds

Barack Obama hates America and white people right? Wasn't this what the original point was? Ted Cruz is at the same place so Cruz believes we should kill gay people. Swanson said he was not for it on the video and you ignore it. What is wrong with you?
No, he didn't. He said he wasn't ready for the US to start doing it YET. He still wants it done, but he wants all gays to have some time to repent before we start shooting them, since hellfire is way worse than bodily death.

You are a sick human being if you don't have a problem with that video.

You're the one defending this idiot. I don't see anybody defending that nutjob that you're tying to Obama. It's telling that you continue to ignore my question to you. There is literally nothing. Christ never uttered one word on homosexuality. Not one. But you follow his teachings and call yourself a Christian. Sure. Sure you are.
Rev. Wright wasn't even that much of a nutjob. Lots of pastors preach that our own government does bad things. When it's some conservative white pastor preaching that legalizing gay marriage will result in hurricanes, no biggie. But some urban black preacher has the guts to say our government screwed over blacks, and it's a national emergency! It's telling that a man like Van would equate Wright with Swanson. Just goes to show you that Van isn't just a homophobe, but a very solid racist, as well.

It's been pretty obvious to me that Hillary would be the next President for several years. Our country is a chit hole for politics, and we've regressed for the past couple decades every time we've elected a new President. The only way we could get worse than Obama is Hillary, and that would appear to keep our decline right on track. I'm sure the liberals on this board and at IU will be run the streets naked when she's elected.

What is this decline people keep talking about?

There are only two things in decline as I see them, and both are financially related:

1) The gap between the haves and have nots, and how for some have nots it pays to stay that low.

There are people who are paranoid and conditioned enough to think the system is stacked against them, so they are justified to take advantage of the system. But the way wealth is fabricated today (not just the US), it's gluttonous. I'm not suggesting a redistribution of wealth, but certainly with an overhaul of the welfare system, perhaps an improvement of services and isn't related to how many children people have.

2) How speculative wealth is used as collateral. It's cool when talking about start-ups and small businesses. It's awful when used to define personal wealth or with businesses that employ dozens, to hundreds, to thousands of people.

If there are other examples of decline, please share them.

I think ultimately what he's saying is the only thing worse than a black president would be a woman.

Here's what I have gathered from VPM in this thread:

1) He is a deeply bigoted person. This is no shock, but his depth of bigotry approaches the level of dangerous.

2) His contempt of blacks and gays is so terrible, he is blinded to how that conflicts with his so-called Christian values.

3) He completely lacks empathy. His comments about Obama and Rev. Wright are not even fact based (he obviously got them from Glenn Beck), but he is completely unable to understand why blacks overall feel disenfranchised.

4) He refuses to acknowledge multiple posts that point out his hypocrisy, especially when confronted on how his political beliefs are anti-Christ and anti-human.

5) I actually have sympathy for him. If I believed in his god, I'd pray for him.

I don't know enough about Wright to comment on him, so I have no business calling him a nutjob. I should amend that post. I was just responding to VPM's irrational posts. And he still won't address the Jesus homosexual teachings question. Evangelicals, who rail against homosexuality on the basis that it's an abomination in the eyes of God (Christ), crack me up. Not one of them has an answer for that question because the man had literally NOT ONE WORD to say on the matter. Nada. They always bring up what was said after his death, none of which was attributable to the man himself. The are Leviticans. All of them. God help them if they ever get a divorce, have daughter who has pre-marital sex, or eat shrimp or bacon.

You disappoint me Goat. You can't even intellectually answer my question. So again, what is it that makes Cruz so dangerous. Be specific.

Cruz is one of those guys who wants people to live his version of morality, as if there is only one path to be moral. That's annoying when he's your neighbor. It's dangerous when he is in a position to have it legislated into laws.

Here is a problem:
People who are against abortions also tend to be people who are against any tax dollars that allow the mother/family to keep and support the child, as well as against any tax dollars that would go toward an orphanage being maintained as an up to date facility with top notch medical and psychological services at their disposal.

Compassionate Christians tend to be fiscally conservatives, and those two things don't really mix, and going down to the local mission once a month or twice a year doesn't mean you give back.

If we're going to outlaw abortions, every county needs to have an orphanage that a middle class family would consider to be top notch accommodations in raising and supporting a child.

None of this really makes someone a bad person, but it does make them dense. It's like enacting a noise ordinance then complaining because your neighbor doesn't cut his grass.

That's Ted Cruz.

Here is a clip from one of Swanson's messages at the event in question.
He basically said what I said before. The Gospel of Christ needs to be preached before all homosexuals, adulterers, porn addicts etc. He said he was NOT in favor of our government killing homosexuals.

Yes, because he wants to give them time to repent.

What if they don't repent?

"Illegitimate divorce and remarriage". There isn't much difference in his mind between this and homosexuality. They need time to repent.

According to his findings, looking at porn, which I'm sure is anything beyond a woman's ankles showing, once a month is considered an addiction, and that 80% of young men who repent have confess to this addiction. Can you really imagine what his idea of porn really is?

If you don't repent of these things you are, in his words, "Worthy of death." This nut bag thinks it goes beyond a "death sentence". This is about God's judgment. So it's not enough that you or I aren't gay. It's that my neighbor can't be gay either, or we're all doomed.

If you align yourself with this nut bag, you aren't far behind him.

Have you been reading my recent updates?

Not exactly a strong showing on my part. B1G is very unpredictable this year. A lot of teams are either falling apart or buckling down halfway through. Look at Wiscy and Iowa last night.

None of us should feel bad about not seeing Trump coming. No one did. No one imagined Republicans are actually that stupid.

He might be the first presidential candidate to lose all 50 states since...well, ever, I think.
I fear that young voters react too favorably to overly simplistic,Twitteresque statements of position from candidates. I base that on what I've heard said by acquaintances in their 20's. Somebody like Trump can blast out a short electronic message that some voters interpret as profound, when it carries little or no actual substance.

That's not what Swanson said.

@Stuffshot: I have had the opposite experience. For the record, I support Sanders and I am vehemently anti-Clinton, so you can imagine my thoughts at the current state of the GOP. Unlike many Americans, I can actually support my beliefs with facts, not opinion.

After several conservations (several being in the range of maybe 30 people) with "millennials" I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of their knowledge and why they were voting for their candidate. On the other hand, I have been dismayed at how arrogantly stupid many of my friends and relatives are when it comes to politics. Many of them are for Trump and direct their righteous indignation at "the Government" or blacks or latinos or Muslims. I am saddened and frightened by how completely ignorant many members of Gen X and the Baby Boomers are.

Here's a test: go ask your friends and family what were the main contributing factors to the 2008 economic collapse. Ask them what a subprime mortgage is. Ask them which party cuts veteran's benefits. Hell, ask them any in depth question, and the overwhelming lack of knowledge on the most important topics facing the USA is staggering.

I have a hell of a lot more faith in the so-called millennial generation than I do my own or my parents'.

Like I said before.....we're just waiting for the Boomers to die off.

Then we'll be able to see real progress.

Gen X and Millenials are older than the groups I was talking about.

Maybe not a strong showing, but improving as I recall your updates.

Old people suck.

At least when it comes to politics.

They haven't adapted to the digital world very well. Most can barely use computers, let alone really dig into the information available to the rest of us.

They watch Fox News 24/7 and that's their only viewpoint to the real world.

And then they go to listen to asshats like VPM once per week.

They aren't bad people. Just massively ignorant people.

Can't tell if you being sarcastic but then, do Hillary Clinton (68), Bernie Sanders (74) and Donald Trump (69) all suck by definition?

I was going to post exactly the same thing. My dad (66 yrs old) has entered social media, and it is amazing how his views went from pro-Hillary to anti-Clinton in days. He is feeling the Bern.
