U Conn travels well to Madison Square Garden. They are coming in on a streak of 3 wins in a row. 2nd year for their coach but they have a senior point guard that is decent. The big in the middle stays there to be effective so chasing him won't be the problem. They only lost to #15 Xavier earlier by one point.

IU has to figure out how to motivate players away from AH. IU has to get stops early. IU needs leadership on the floor at all times. Indiana needs to play each game and each play like that play is vital. They cannot afford to mail it in.

IU is favored by a couple.

I really had my hopes up for the UW game. Wrong. Possibly, the FSU game may have caused them to become...eh..complacent.

Indiana 77; U Conn 76

IU 74 UCONN 68. MSG and a big publicity game - the kids will get up for this one.

Is UCONN a good 3 point shooting team? I think until Archie starts running a real defense we're in serious trouble against good shooting teams.

Chris Mack runs that packline pretty well and defends the 3 pt line. Archie has it packed in so far because we have many guys that obviously get beat off the dribble and outside of Trace, we lack shotblockers.

Just another severely flawed team. Can’t shoot. Unathletic bigs. Lack of ballhandling. It’s a good thing this is Archie’s 1st season here.

lol. i've never seen anyone drift in the wind quite like you, fkie.

This is a chance for the players to show what they are made of. The defensive effort against FSU (a better team) was not close to the effort of Wisky (a worse team).

Another game of low energy and defensive effort will make the last game start looking like a trend. I would expect we will play the best game possible and we will win this game. We can start to be concerned if we lose a game with low effort and energy. I believe we are the better team and should win even on the road.

Yeah, where did that gimmicky packline ever get UVA?
I feel like few really understand the packline defense enough. I would like to hear how Archie teaches it.

RMK took the time to teach the fans over the years and I really believe it made us the best fans in the country. Since then, Mike Davis and Crean dumbed our fanbase down.

I would love to have Archie show video of the packline where it was done well and when it wasn't. I can recognize when it is being done well, but I sometimes question if we are using it or just doing a bad job at it.

He should have plenty of film of it being done poorly just from the Wisconsin game alone.

Lol...the amount of stupid in your posts is rarely matched ..

I see a real problem dealing with teams that have taller players who can hit the 3. DeRon and Brunk are going to be put into bad situations against such teams. Maybe CAM needs to give Race a few more minutes and see if he can do better in those games. I don't want to see TJD guarding 3 pt shooters as he's far and away our best rebounder and don't want him 20 feet from the hoop when a shot goes up.

Hunter's length will help eventually but he has not yet figured out how to play P5 level defense. Watching him get burned on that back door cut (Kobe King dunk) made me scream. That play worked great back in 4th grade ball at the YMCA.

If you had told me back in July that Damezi would be contributing more than Hunter at this point in the season I would have called you crazy. I stand corrected.

I'm sure there exceptions when we guard a player without the ball a little tighter than the normal packline would recommend. That makes the packline a straight man to man if two people on the ball side are doing that.

I would expect it puts more pressure on the perimeter players to defend against a team that kicks the ball out from the post to their 3 point shooters. They need to really be aware of where they are and not get sucked in and have too much distance to close out on the shooter.

Archie might not say it, but I suspect he has been teaching the packline without having the length to make it the most effective. This year we have the length in many places and up to 3 years experience running it. We should be about ready to run the packline as it is supposed to be run.

We get more length in the back court next year. That might be as good as it gets.

2 players to watch for UConn- Vital and Carlton. Vital is a 6'2 Sr guard who scores, shoots a lot of 3s and gets a lot of rebounds. Carlton is a Junior, big kid (6'11/260) who scores, rebounds and blocks shots. Both have experience. This will be a tough matchup.

I'm not sure why it surprises you. Anderson may not have played a lot of minutes last season but he did play and practiced the whole year. He already knew after last season what the college game is like and what he had to do to improve his play.

Hunter didn't play in a game for the whole season and didn't practice until this past summer. Even then, it was restricted for quite a while (maybe it still is). It was a redshirt year, but a redshirt year without the benefit of practicing the whole time. So lots of rust and likely conditioning are affecting his play, coupled with having to adjust to the speed and physicality of college ball vs high school ball.

I think Hunter will end up being a better player than Anderson, but it doesn't surprise me that he isn't this year. I didn't have high expectations for Hunter this year for the reasons listed above. Anderson, however, is playing better than I expected.

I think if IU scores more points than UCONN by hitting more shots and free throws offensively and forcing UCONN into hitting less shots and free throws defensively Hoosiers win 74-65. Oh, and rebounding, out rebounding them would be good.

I think this game could literally go either way at this point.

Ill go with IU tho bc I think in usual IU fashion IU will suddenly stomp on it after a very noticeable loss in order to do just enough in ppls minds.

UCONN 70
IU 72

I do think though however if even that can't\doesn't happen and uconn does win its looking pretty bad for the future.
A lot of losses, and hopefully not a string of them.

But im still hopeful

Maybe I was expecting too much from Hunter this first yr. the times I saw Damezi last season he looked like a lost kid on the court. Give him credit for some hard work over the summer. I thought he was a high prob transfer risk going into this year. Now I think he has a shot at a decent career at IU.

80/20 UConn to IU fans. Rob dressed devonte starting. I’ll take Iu 78-69

Lot's and lots of UCONN alumni in NYC..
But we find a way ..
68 -64...Indiana ~
Congratulations! Of all the bad guesses in this thread, I believe this one may be the least worst. How's that for a pat on the back?

The Assembly Hall Mentors and Trolls would really like to give you a monetary award, but we spent it replacing the wide-screen we broke twice in the last two games.

But you do get a wonderful "Lil Archie" trophy! You wind it up and it chews gum.
