These players have not hit the portal yet, but could imo given their current conference or a coaching change from when they were recruited.

Bigs:

Fardaws Aimaq - 6'11" - Utah Valley - 19 ppg, 14 rpg

Johni Broome - 6'10" - Moorehead State - 17 ppg, 11 rpg, 4 bpg

Kenneth Lofton Jr - 6'7" - Louisiana Tech - 16 ppg, 11 rpg

Wings:

Antonio Reeves - 6'4" - Illinois State- 20 ppg, 39% from 3 (2.3 3FG/gm)

Jason Roche - 6'5" - The Citadel - 13 ppg, 40% from 3 (3.5 3FG/gm)

Terquavion Smith - 6'4" - NC State - 17 ppg, 37% from 3 (3.0 3FG/gm)

PGs:

Nigel Pack - 6' - Kansas State - 17 ppg, 44% from 3 (3.3 3FG/gm)

RJ Davis - 6' - UNC - 14 ppg, 4 apg, 4 rpg, 41% from 3 (1.8 3FG/game)

Max Abmas - 6'1" - Oral Roberts - 23 ppg, 4 apg, 39% from 3 (3.8 3FG/game)

No on Lofton. Why would we want a 6-7 "big"? Been down that route before (Freddie McSwain).
Pack would be interesting, depending on what Phin does.
Aimaq might be well worth looking at as well.

I know what you mean on Lofton, but he is a bit different in that he has a massive frame (275 lbs) and really long arms. He performed very will in the U19 world championships for the team Ivey and Johnny Davis also played for.

Wishful thinking, but I would love for next year's lineup to be:

Pack/RP
Bates/JHS
Reeves/Galloway
Geronimo/Banks
Broome/Duncomb

After more research, Broome is actually a stud.

I would be willing to bet you that at least 5 of those 9 hit the portal.
why RJ Davis? He's starting at UNC isn't he?

And, I have no idea how you are determining that, but speculating on players entering the portal and then further projecting them at IU...well, uhh, have you met my wife: Morgan Fairchild, yeah, that's her: Morgan Fairchild!

I think he is probably least likely to transfer of the bunch mentioned above, but he committed to Roy Williams, not Hubert Davis. They have a top 30 PG coming in that did commit to Hubert Davis.

Where is X Johnson on your lineups list?

Not over Aimaq.

Aimaq rebounds better AND shot 20-46 on 3-pts, not to mention he won defensive player of the year again this season. He's just what Woodson would be looking for in the post - solid defender who could have enough range to pull inside defenders out of the lane and open up drives to the basket.

Broome is 7th in the country in PER. 8th in the country in DRtg. 3rd in the country in blocks. 4th in the country in block percentage.

While Aimaq is a better shooter, he's also significantly worse inside the arc. He shoots 49% while Broome is at 57%.

Woodson wants to play 4 out 1 in, not 5 out. Our center doesn't need to be able to shoot.

So you don't think XJ is in our top two PGs next year? lol
This is all speculation. It's highly likely XJ is our PG next year. I said I would be thrilled with the roster mentioned above, not that I expected it to be the roster. XJ doesn't fit on that roster as I don't see him being willing to come off the bench like RP has shown to be okay with.

my old boss liked to use a term that applies here: mental masturbation!

Ummm. Sure thing. He's only been our best/2nd best player for the past month.

Duncomb..?
How can anyone think he's a viable option.
He hasn't been on the floor for a cup of coffee.
He's sloooow and weak...Not a good combination in the most physical conference in the country..
At the very very best..He gets a chance against some joke teams early to see if he can play..

Tough to speculate on kids that haven't entered the portal yet...and also without knowing who's leaving off our own roster.

We're pretty darn close to being a solid NCAA/top 25 type team. I actually think we already are at that level. We just have an astounding ability to not figure out how to win games. That's a big problem to have. But I'm rolling with Optimism today, and I trust that Woody is going to figure that out this offseason, and have the kids better prepared and more ready to make plays late in games that will lead to more wins. If that's true, lets roll back as close to our current roster as we possibly can, incorporate whatever the 22' kids can do to improve our weaknesses, and go get us back headed in the right direction.

Ideally though, and where I think it'll go. Woody has thoughts on what and how he wants his IU program to continue to evolve to. And the roster changes coming in the next month or two will reflect that.

We shouldn't be playing 10 guys anyways. He can't be worse than Durr. I'd be willing to see what he can do in the 7 mpg Durr played this year.

Duncomb = Crowl of UW. Very similar out of HS on size, weight, ranking. And very similar frosh years in stats. No reason Duncomb can't be like Crowl.

I watched Aimaq last week against Grand Canyon University. He was born to rebound. More impressive on defense than offense.

XJ will be the starting PG next season. Stop with this nonsense.

And being honest I want X to be our pg next year. It’s nice when you see someone clearly work hard to improve throughout the year and then get to see those results on the court. I want to see him come back after an off season with Woody and team and see what he can do as the man!

We might have another poor season...it likely will be related to our frontcourt, or lack thereof, or our inability to shoot, but not because of our PG play.

Go study some more analytics.
Now what if our PG were hitting 3+ threes a game while shooting 44%? Pack addresses a much bigger issue on this team than XJ can, and that’s my point.

Without a complete roster overhaul, we will be terrible once again.

Since we're fantasizing...lets push to have both of them! 2 dynamic, fast, explosive PGs.

Wouldn't make JHS happy probably. But again, since we're fantasizing, maybe JHS grows 4 inches and becomes the perfect NBA "point forward". Then we'd have 3 PGs on our team?!

And since I like my fantasies mega sized...how about we get the Jokic guy that we played against in the Bahamas. He could play center for us, and play like the real Joker does for the Nuggets, as a "Point Center". So then we'd have FOUR PGs on our roster!

Don't we need some on our bench too? Maybe go 8 deep at PG?

I would have had XJ instead of RP in my lineup if I thought XJ would be cool coming off the bench. Not the type of player he is though. JHS and Pack can play together and mesh well. JHS and XJ can’t play together well.

Btw, we would already have 3 PGs on the team with Pack, RP, and JHS.
