with news that Comcast is raising monthly modem rental fees $2 from $8 to $10 a month, i was wondering how much the average customer was paying per month to their cable company, just in equipment rental fees.
forget Rent A Center, my guess is, Comcast is probably the biggest non automobile consumer rental company in the US. (followed by Time Warner Cable, Directv, AT&T, etc).
gone are the days when you could just buy a cable ready tv and vcr, and pay just for the programming service.
now you pretty much have to rent equipment, (boxes and dvrs), on every tv you want connected.
multi tv dvrs can help, but they aren't cheap either, and sometimes require higher tier subscriptions or bundled services..
