Just not true. When teams lose in the NFL , who gets fired? The coach. At 3.5 per year , CAM owns the program.

They miss this Culver kid. One thing I will say is TTU is usually in games. Have they got blown out? Not really. Plus they have beat some teams they probably shouldn't have. This Beard knows what he is doing.

It is true that some years are better than others. But if a coach can recognize his team, their strengths and weaknesses and put out the best product on the floor then it is a great thing to see. It is hard to keep teams motivated year in and year out. The great coaches might not always win, but will have motivated players who will do their best and lay it on out on the court.
That's why you cast a wide net: if you want to get a "program changer" you generally have to pluck someone from a spot that isn't the normal path. Think BK at IU, K at Duke, Marshall at Wich St. None of those were "name" hires and people questioned it. I still don't feel like FG did not do a thorough search down to the levels of guys like a Beard, but I also believe that's the most likely path to hitting a home run.
