The most eye-opening comment to me was the reason he chose Baylor over Alabama. Said he had too much fun at ‘Bama - meaning he’d be distracted from basketball. Made me wonder if we’ve lost recruits for similar reasons? It’s a heckuva balancing act trying to assign player escorts (or whatever they’re called) that can show the recruit a good time, but not too good.
The comments of one person does not decide the softness of "todays players".
Reminds me of the reaction of one of my colleagues to the audio tape of Coach Knight yelling at his team. My colleague was aghast, while I calming explained to him my Jr. HS coach was just as demonstrative to us 12 year olds. Just a different era, I suppose.
Different era yes. Now the volleyball coach is being thrown under the bus for being the same sort of coach.
