Is this a rule that the players, staff and 20,000 people attending are not required to wear masks but cheerleaders and folks at media / scorers table are required to wear one? Anyone know if there is a policy here where these two groups are being required to wear masks when no one else is.

Doesn’t make a lot sense to me.

Well, the media usually spews a bunch of crap, so I get the masks for them. Have no clue for cheerleaders.

I’ve noticed this too. 12 people jumping up and down for two hours, wearing masks while surrounded by 20,000 screaming people who aren’t wearing them. If someone can explain that science to me, I am all ears.
Could it have something to do with their cheer competitions?

That's about the only thing I can think of that would make any sort of sense, if you call that sense.

If Outkick is to believed it's because all people adjacent to the court need to be masked. LOL 20K other people in an enclosed space, all above the court level where everything they spew drifts downward.

I haven’t seen Reggie Miller wearing a mask and he’s sitting courtside since breakfast.don’t think the trombone player shooting saliva everywhere is while he’s playing.

"The masking policy sent by email and obtained by OutKick also states that TV broadcasters, radio announcers and public-address announcers are not required to wear a mask while performing but should at all other times."

Surprised they're making them wear a mask with a hole cut out of it so they can play.

I saw that che other day and thought what the..... Talk about stupid.

Embarrassing thread.
Ultimately this is just a political thread for the right to get their shots in, but when I saw the IU cheerleaders wearing them on Thursday I wondered what that was all about. Nobody else was wearing them.

If the whole virtue signal wasn't pure obvious theatre a thread would not be necessary. But having kids who scream and yell have to wear a mask when nobody else has to wear one is beyond absurd. I am sure it is not fun while cheering.

Hey it’s the same organization that allowed a man to win the Female swimming championship. What do you expect.

The CDC report on masks not preventing viral transfer is not applicable to cheer or table refs/staff. They are still completely susceptible.

I agree on this occasion, but it was red meat for your side to get shots in as if to point out how absurd masks were even when we had thousands of deaths and hundred of thousands of cases per day.

Don’t make this a right/left debate. It’s solely about the absurdity of 20 people out of 20,000 having to wear masks.

Bingo. It's ridiculous. Just like when I attend mass and receive communion by someone wearing a mask who hands me the host barehanded in the palm of my hand and I proceed to put it into my mouth. Common sense was lost a long time ago. Just like wearing masks are required on a flight except during the 30 minutes of beverage service.

I had a United flight attendant accuse me of drinking my coffee “suspiciously slow”.
