Silvio De Sousa was considered a lock for the Terps. Then he shocked everyone by committing to Kansas. This story is just beginning.

I read Federal Investigation which is what started the investigation against Louisville and Pitino.

According to a statement released by the university, “On March 15, 2018 and June 29, 2018, the University received grand jury subpoenas for documents related to the ongoing federal investigation of college basketball. The University complied with the subpoenas by providing responsive records. None of the responsive records shows evidence of any violations of applicable laws or NCAA bylaws by University coaches, staff or players. The University has cooperated and will continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing federal investigation.”

Maryland was first implicated in the probe in February, when Yahoo Sports reported that former Terps standout Diamond Stone received over $14,000 as an enticement to sign with former NBA agent Andy Miller’s agency, ASM Sports, after leaving College Park following his freshman year. Stone, who played one year at Maryland before leaving for the NBA, wound up signing with another management company.

Post it ... or anything other than the single source (which wasn't the FBI) that made the claim.

Not saying it's not true, but we don't really know if it is, yet. I know the timeline doesn't add up, so the story reeks of sensationalistic BS but until it's done and investigated we know nothing.

Let it play out before making judgement. Especially considering that ESPN is part of an entertainment industry not a journalistic one. Their job is to create hype and drama, not report facts. We as a nation really need to learn the difference. Entertainment news is not news.

Here's an article citing SI basically calling ESPN's claim unfounded. All kinds of reports calling ESPN's claim BS were done after it came out, but no one pays attention to them because it's not what they want to believe. There were more articles debunking the claim than promoting it. How did you miss them?

So now you created a narrative of truth based on very little information and no facts. "It's not hearsay or speculation", while it actually is still and speculation if not pure BS. Quit helping create falsehoods, and conspiracies, we have enough lies and BS to wade through currently. Thanks .

Well done. Reminds me of the old John Adams quote from the Boston Massacre trial:

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

One of the subpoenas sought info about an asst coach's contact with another recruit--not Stone. Doesn't sound for MT, who's already on the hot seat.

Maryland isn't "under federal investigation." They got a subpoena, likely requiring them to produce some documents. Those documents may turn out to be evidence of a crime, or not, but given the nature of the previous indictments, the targets of those investigations are likely shoe company officials, agents or their runners, or other such people. Maybe an assistant coach, or coach, who would be fired the instant evidence of wrong-doing appears.

Right or wrong, the schools have generally been treated like victims in this case, rather than criminals. The schools aren't under investigation, they are just being ordered to produce evidence that other people committed crimes, if they have any.

Yeah Kansas was just subpoenaed as well. This thread title is misleading, but hardly surprising given the source.

For a guy that played 9 minutes a game for half a season, De Sousa really stirred up a lot of shit.

It happens to all of us. No biggie. We no longer get to take anything for granted.
