Said as much in starting the thread - just not in an expansive mood.
That seems quite impossible. We all know Fred is an incompetent AD. IU won Swim and dive, Soccer, now baseball, again. How is this so with such incompetence?
He made very good hires in baseball after Smith moved to ASU. Mercer could turn out to be great. Young and wants to be at IU.
Fred has done a great job managing all sports except for the only 2 that matter.
No IU AD has ever successfully "managed" football. There's reason for optimism on that front. It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to recover from the "We're Back!" Crean extension and fallout thereof. We'll know a lot more about that in the next year.
My uncle goes to games with his sons and says it is a real good time. I've not been to a game, but can see why it would be entertaining as a baseball fan. I was thrilled as a Cubs fan when Schwarber signed because of his connection to my beloved IU.

What?? We are led to believe a new coach (or manager in this case) needs his owns players and 4-5 years to have desired results, such as post season or a bowl game. The apologists are not going to like what has just transpired.

Mercer is a native Hoosier and young, he could lead IU baseball for a very long time. IU could be a budding B1G baseball power!
IU has been the BIG baseball power since 2013 but breaking into the national scene on a regular basis is difficult when shoveling the field is required for the first month of home games. Schwarbs and Co. made it cool to play BB in the BIG again.
