This gets a lot of publicity every July 1st as the Mets pay their annual payment of around $1.2 million on a $5.9 contract he signed way back around 1999 which ended up being deferred. They have already paid him over $13 million on the contract so far and he will get approximately $16.7 million on the rest of it until 2035. He last played in the majors in 2001 and last played for the Mets in 1999.
