Great, exciting game.

Iowa St and Former IU DC Jon Heacock getting a lot of love from Mike Patrick and Tuberville.

Matt Campbell was 3–9 his first season at Iowa State. The pundits and Lazy-Boy recliner coaches on this board would've run his ass out.
Had he done that with the talent IU had, I would agree. But he took over a program that wasn't close to IU's and has quickly elevated them to an 8 victory, bowl winning team, with a signature W in Norman this year. He looks to be the product of a well conducted national search that found the best guy available to ISU. Hard to argue with their success or the smart process that produced it. I'm sure we can all agree on that.

They did their best to run Heacock out...

If I recall we had guys saying that the BC head coach couldn't coach a lick either.

If you look at the recruiting classes leading into this year, you'd realize that IU and Iowa State were not that much different in rankings and both competed for many of the same players.
A well conducted search don't mean squat. It's as much a gamble as promoting from within and you know it. PJ Fleck or Darrell Hazell come to mind? These were hot shots in the MAC just like Campbell.

Well conducted searches are far more likely to produce outstanding hires as opposed to poorly conducted or non-existent ones. One of the keys, as I'm sure we would agree, is the leadership behind the search.

BRFredd disappears, a new ass-clown shows up. Who would've guessed. Welcome back for the 15th time Ord. Fred Glass must have violated your sister. No sane person with a lesser grudge would keep coming back. You are truly the Black Knight from Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail.

I'm sure it will take most of us on the board only a couple of days to get you on ignore once again. I'm starting to feel sorry for you. That kind of obsession and the persistence to invest so much time denigrating a program and its fan base can only be explained by deep emotional trouble.

It is literally insane. He gets banned, comes back with a new name, spews the same anti-IU bullshit with similar verbiage, yet apparently expects a different outcome. We should start taking wagers on how quickly he will be banned this time. And he will be banned because he can't help himself. He'll be kinder and gentler for a short time but will become unhinged when challenged and/or impeached. Within days, he'll be telling people they know nothing about football, that they get dumber with every post, and that they can't handle the truth.

At least he's easy to spot, so people know who and what they're dealing with.

What is even worse,he pulled out one of his older “personnas “, iudanapoint, and headed over to the Purdue board to slam IU this week. Obvious mental illness or just a PU fan = same thing.

He got one response from me before I put him on ignore. A new record!

Sad, really - - a pathological obsession.

Did you see his embittered sobbing meltdown against this forum on GBI?

Epic entertainment.

Well conducted searches are far more likely to produce outstanding hires as opposed to poorly conducted or non-existent ones. One of the keys, as I'm sure we would agree, is the leadership behind the search.

And we can also agree that many, many schools promote from within and have success with coordinator promotions.

I will provide some examples so that you don't strain yourself looking:

1. Phillip Fulmer replacing Johnny Majors.
2. George O' Leary at Georgia Tech.
3. Bill Stewart at West Virginia - replaced Rich Rod.
4. Clay Helton at USC - succeeded Sarkisian.
5. Dabo Sweeney - heard of him? His promotion was wildly unpopular in Clemson.
6. Tom Izzo - Jud's longtime assistant.
7. Gus Malzahn at Auburn and Larry Blakeney at Troy were previous high school coaches.

This notion that a promotion from within doesn't have the probability of success as a new hire, you will agree, has no data to back this up and you need to truly do a bit more analysis as to the proportion of promoted coaches who go on to success vs. new hires from an outside search who go onto success and then come back with your comparison. Look forward to it. IU is not the only university to have gone this route, although you have tried to desperately insinuate that in every one of your posts.

That’s a great list.... how many of those guys had no HC experience and only one year at the school before getting promoted?

I don’t think it has to be defended. It is what it is. If he gets it done then Glass is a genius. If he doesn’t then it should cost Glass his job.... I like where we are at the moment. I can do without #LEO crap but they had a good recruiting class and I’m anxious to see what they can do with it.

I think not trying to defend the program every time someone posts something questioning decisions or commitment would go a long way in quieting things. That’s just me. Let them talk to people they agree with...it becomes less fun for them
