Like it's not our class lol. Pro QB would not fit what Allen and company want.

The reason for my asking the question above is that the list above represents kids from one high school team, the Marietta (GA) Blue Devils . . .

. . . and they got beat last night by Rome (GA) High School, 51-41. Rome is where the #1 player in last year's class - Trevor Lawrence - played. Lawrence is at Clemson and local experts think he is likely to be Clemson's starting QB, perhaps even in the first game of the season, this year. We'll see about that . . .

. . . which brings me to my point. The kid who was the Rome #2 QB last year is now a senior starter. Rome beat Marietta last night with an overall well-played game, including getting some timely turnovers. Rome's QB was 13-19, 218 yards and 3 TDs throwing the ball, and added 89 yards on 15 carries. His offer list isn't all that strong yet - mid-majors with Akron, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern and Tulane as the headliners - and the kid is ranked at a 3 star/.83 player. But he's on a winner - state championship team (highest classification in GA) and just beat the national #10 team/GA #1 (highest classification) - and talks like a coach already, i.e., about how well they executed on offense.

This is the kind of kid that might turn out to be one of those guys who - as Bear Bryant used to say - doesn't know that he doesn't have any talent. Is this a kid that IU might be interested in as a follow up to recruiting Penix? He seems like a Peyton Ramsey type of kid.

Ready for the six degrees of separation to IU football connection? The head coach of Rome High School in Georgia is from Indiana and cut his teeth as an assistant coach for a very active poster on this board.

It would be nice if coach Reid would push his players towards IU but don't count on it. He wants what is best for this players and if something better is offered I don't think he would recommend IU. It would be great to get a pipeline going with Rome HS coming into IU so maybe coach can help that along.

i lived in georgia back in the 80s and i can tell you there's some serious high school football talent down there. even more so now. if uga isn't in the top 5 in the country every year there's something seriously wrong. that's exactly why mark richt is no longer the coach there. along with the state of florida, we need to set up shop down there.

Yep. Been in suburban ATL for the last 31 years other than a 2 year hiatus in Rhode Island, of all places. And they sure do play football down here.

BTW, MrsSope teaches at a feeder school for Marietta . . . and there are very, very few names on the football team that she recognizes. Not only do they play football here, they do a great job of welcoming other schools' talent!!

BTW, Rome has a RB that is committed to NC State. He had 162 yards last night against Marietta.

Also, Marietta plays at St. John's in Washington, DC on 9/22/18.

More . . . the inevitable GHSA investigation, ineligibilities and fines . . .
