Arguably the current top two programs in the MIC. Six of the seven 6A championship games have included one of the programs with two finals being Carmel v Center Grove affairs. They leave behind the majority of the larger Marion County township schools in the northern part of the county - Ben Davis, Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, North Central, Pike, and Warren Central.
Carmel seems destined to joined the Hoosier Crossroads Conference with the other big Hamilton County schools. Center Grove may be a fit in Conference Indiana with the Bloomington, Columbus, and Terre Haute schools.
If the MIC wants to go back to an 8-team conference, they could try to lure one of the other four Marion County schools currently playing 6A football in other conferences. Indianapolis Tech is a bit of a sore thumb in the North Central Conference, mostly made up of smaller schools in rust belt towns. Center Grove could swap with Southport for their spot in Conference Indiana. Franklin Central could also swap with Carmel and leave the HCC for the MIC. Perry Meridian is in the Mid-State conference with south suburban schools.
