Russell was a disaster of a pick when he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2007 draft by the Raiders. I remember Chris Landry who was running an independent scouting service out of Louisiana at the time who had several NFL teams subscribing to his service, warning the Raiders not to take Russell overall and he stated no team should take the kid in the first round or even in the 2nd round. He said that Russell was getting by strictly on his physical attributes at LSU and would not put the work in that was needed to prepare for opponents like reviewing film, etc. This item about Russell was posted back in 2013, but I just saw it for the first time today.
