And they also have banned media and beat writers from most important parts of their practices. For as much as some people here and online have liked to complain about the staff's secrecy here, you'd think it was some extreme or unreasonable tactic, but it isn't. If you are bothered by the team trying to keep things close to the vest, frankly, you are just looking for something to be unhappy about.

Ohio State had over 60,000 people at their spring game this year. And yet they will still figure out how to kick everybody else's ass.

whatabout

sorry, not a fan of this approach, and it didn't go so well last yr, did it.

that said, looky here.

OSU is a bad barometer for a program trying to build itself.
IU lost big opportunity in the late 80s / early 90s to help itself. The administration was more concerned that they might soil themselves if they ran into Bob Knight in the hallway..
Was the opportunity to which you refer something specific, or just the general momentum that Coach Mallory had managed to build?

P.S. I know we’ve gone over this ground countless times on the board. All apologies.

The bowl years from 1986 -1993 brought almost zero investment in the football program. IU has had a repeated pattern of ADs who never upset the apple cart and stuck to the status quo.

People complain about Glass and Dolsen but Clarence Doninger was the worst AD ever. He had no vision for the program and was satisfied to just balance the budget. Our FB program and women’s BB program would be much farther along at this point if he had done a better job.

But they admittedly lost a day of practice. They have a new DC as well and he runs a 4-2-5. They played 2 hand touch and ran a 4-3. They also give very limited access to the media and very rarely give a injury report.

I’m fairly certain that if IU knew they could draw even 20,000 they would have had a spring game as well.

A dead period for FB growth to be sure that extended up until Glass. who took a chance on a high profile coach (that ultimately failed) and transformed the facilities.

Hell that ain't hard to figure, they're the Buckeyes who've invested m'$ in their FB program for at least 7 decades.

Ryan Day gives an availability report he just doesn't explain the injury because that is private information. The player is free to tell the media about their injury if they choose. The program just isn't going to do it.
