This story came out a year ago -- the source was reportedly a high-level CIA whistleblower. I'm pretty sure the agency denied that this happened. But they would, wouldn't they?
I guess my question is why the CIA would have any interest in denying the lab-leak hypotheses -- if, anyway, their information pointed in that direction. According to the narrative of the whistleblower, there were 7 members on the panel and only the most senior member favored zoonotic origin. The other 6 did not.
I can see where the NIH and its proxies would have an interest in promoting zoonotic origin. But other than them, the only other people who would share that interest are the Chinese.
