One in a row!

They showed they are better than bad teams. That's it so far.

IU looks mid pack. I picked them 4th, but if we get to vote again before Big Ten games, I'll say 6th. They just play average and kind of dumb basketball.

Looks like the game plan is to exploit 1v1 match ups and try to shoot more 3s.

The defense doesn't appear to have improved collectively nor has the intensity.

They have shot free throws better than last year, and there is more guard depth. That's about it.

Providence probably isn’t very good. But there were a lot of good things from the game today.

Better movement, overall, on offense. Less stubborn emphasis on posting. Pushing the ball a little more.

Defense was awful.

I’ll never cheer for them to lose. So coming away with the win is better than losing. Hope they build on the offensive improvements and figure some things out defensively.

This team still can make it right in conference play. I’m not optimistic at all, but it’s technically possible. Ugh.

You can see flashes of it. Unfortunately I think that might just be the talent level jiving for little spurts here and there. I know it’s a dead horse, at this point, but this is what a team that hasn’t been effectively taught anything of substance looks like.

Maybe he’s trying, and the flashes of good play are them doing what he’s been trying to get them to do?? But they aren’t an organized, focused, consistent basketball team. So he’s either not working on things to make those things happen, or he’s not good at it if he is. Either way, IU needs better.

IU is on a roll.....
With two easy games coming up next. Woodson setting up a total cupcake preseason was genius for him cause if he can go 11-9 in the big ten that gets him 20 wins and quinn is not firing his buddy who just won 20 games. If we had played last years preseason woodson would probably have lost 4 or 5 preseason games. Very smart move on his behalf to help save his job.

i can imagine him saying-other than the first two games I thought we played well in the Bahamas. It’s on me that didn’t travel earlier and suffered from jet fatigue in the two warm up games.

6th out of 18 teams? No way, I say they’ll be in the back 9. Probably 10-12 range. This team plays way too lazy to compete with the teams that’ll make the tourney.

I'm thinking 13-19 overall W-L (that's including a 1st round L in the BIG10 tourney) without even an NIT invitation... Here's hoping they turn things around and prove me wrong...

With that win total,.they won't even qualify for the BTT

I get the impression from Woodson that he sees himself bigger than the program. He won't step down as long as he thinks he is doing a good job....which has nothing to do with wins and losses. He assembles a collection of players who can play....but he doesn't know how to build team that improves over time. What we see in exhibition is what we see mid season. IU is always exposed against the big boys.....every single time. IU did modify his contract with a double edged sword. Overall, his compensation was increased...but IU has the option to pay his buyout with 1 million dollars per year installments until it is paid.....which is less burdensome than a lump sum. So there should not be financial reluctance to terminate him. What other reluctance could there be? Player revolt? They are paid mercenaries anyway. Fan uproar? Hardly. Bad publicity? He is the latest in a long list of failed coaching hires. So basically, there isn't a reason to keep him until the season is over. After IU loses its first three or four conference games in a row.....fire him. Start the coaching search during the season. He was going to depend entirely on the portal next year anyway....so players will be there for his replacement.

After what I have seen of Michigan, Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Purdue so far this year this IU team could easily finish sixth or worse. All those teams right now look better than IU.
Probably throw OSU, Rutgers, PSU, Oregon and Maryland in that list as well

You present a very balanced and accurate take. I'm more of a there seems to be a lack of intensity and purpose in every phase of the game guy. This team is soft as a baby's ass.

I don't know what these guys worked on over the summer. It wasn't defensive footwork or intensity.
