IU goes for the sweep but will have to do it in uncomfortable weather. The current weather as I post this is some light rain with the radar showing that it is on the verge of moving out of the area. The current temp is 37 degrees with the high expected to be 41. The wind is 5 mph with gusts to 12 mph.

With Gilley burning his start after coming out of the bullpen in the DH sweep, LHP Deron Swanson will be on the mound for IU with Stadler behind the plate. Swanson's numbers are 3.0 IP with an ERA of 3.00 and a WHIP of 1.33. He has 5 Ks to 1 BB and an OBA of .300.

OSU will start RHP Jake Michalak with an ERA of 8.76 and a WHIP of 2.43 in 12.1 IP. He appears to have had control problems since his strikeout numbers and walk numbers are almost equal at 15 Ks and 14 BBs.

IU's batting order is Wiggins, Taylor, Dickerson, Stadler, Hanley, Denny (DH), Malamazian (3B), Cerny, and Moore (2B). Oliver is sitting out this game and Pyne is another scratch and I found out that Pyne is dealing with an injury of which I don't know how serious it is.

T1st:

I lost my internet connection just as the game started. Swanson got off a really good start and Kd the side to start the game.

B1st:

Wiggins grounded out to lead off, Taylor walked on a 3-1 count, Dickerson Kd for the 2nd out, Taylor stole 2nd, Stadler walked on four pitches to put two on with Taylor reaching 3rd on a WP, Hanley reached on an error which scored Taylor, Denny singled to score both Stadler and Haney, and Malamazian Kd to end the inning.

End of 1st: IU 3 OSU 0

T2nd:

Swanson continued to pitch well and got the first two outs before giving up back-to-back walks, but he got the last out on a K.

B2nd:

Cerny led off and doubled. Moore singled with Cerny taking 3rd.

Wiggins walked on a 3-2 count to load the bases.

Taylor singled with Cerny and Moore both scoring, and Taylor advanced on a passed ball.

Dickerson singled with Wiggins scoring.

Stadler reached on a FC with Dickerson out at 2nd and Taylor scoring.

Hanley flied out and Denny was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a throwing error by the pitcher, which is OSU's third error of the game.

Malamazian Kd to end the inning.

End of 2nd: IU 7 OSU 0

T3rd:

Swanson faced the top of the order and he got the leadoff hitter on a K and then got a flyout for two outs. Swanson then got another K to put them down in order.

B3rd:

It's Cerny leading off and the cold weather seems to appeal to the Hoosiers in this game, and not so much to the Buckeyes, at least so far.

Cerny flied out and then Moore singled to put a man on and we are at the top of the order.

Moore stole 2nd with Wiggins at the plate and one out.

Moore advanced to 3rd on a passed ball and one out.

Wiggins Kd on a full count for the 2nd out. Taylor flied out stranding Moore at 3rd.

End of 3rd: IU 7 OSU 0

T4th:

Swanson faced the 3 thru 5 hitters and the leadoff hitter singled which was OSU's first hit of the game.

A two-run homer to LF and OSU chipped away at the lead with no outs and the bases empty.

The next batter singled and Swanson may be running out of gas in the 4th and the bullpen got busy quickly with Seebold warming up.

Swanson got a K for the first out and he gave way to Seebold after that with a man on and one out, and he will face the bottom of the order to start.

Seebold had an excellent two innings on his last trip to the mound against OSU.

Seebold Kd the first batter faced for two outs and a man at 1st. The runner on 1st took 2nd on a WP.

Seebold then walked a batter on a full count to put two runners on.

A groundout retired the side with no damage done after the homer, but the Buckeyes challenged the call, and the call was upheld.

B4th:

It was the 3 thru 5 hitters up with Dickerson leading off and he goes down swinging for the first out.

Stadler flied out for two outs and then Hanley singled to put a man on. Denny lined out to end the inning and all of a sudden, IU's bats have gone quiet against a starter that struggled at the start of the game.

End of 4th: IU 7 OSU 2

Seebold faced the top of the order. Seebold got a flyout and then gave up a single. A groundout moved the runner to 2nd and two outs. The dangerous Graveline was up and he leads the Buckeyes in homers and has hit some blasts in this series.

Graveline singled to score another run as OSU continues to chip away at the lead. A flyout retired the side.

B5th:

It's the bottom of the order up with Malamazian leading off and he was hit by a pitch. Cerny walked on four pitches to put runners at 1st and 2nd and no outs with Moore up.

That chased the starter as the Buckeyes went to the bullpen. RHP Zev Salsberg with a 5.68 in 6.1 IP and a WHIP of 1.90 with 2 Ks and 3 Bs.

He moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd on a balk. Moore lined out for the first out.

Wiggins doubled to score both Malamazian and Cerny to make it 9-3.

Taylor walked on four pitches to put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out.

Dickerson blasted a three-run homer to right center to make it 12-3.

Stadler walked on a 3-1 count and then Hanley Kd for the 2nd out.

Stadler took 2nd and then 3rd on back-to-back WPs.

Denny hit a two-run homer to LF to make it 14-3 and IU may make this another run-rule game.

Stadler walked on a 3-1 count.

Malamazian reached on another error by the Buckeyes, and they now have more errors on the game at four than what they do in runs at three.

Cerny popped up on the infield to end the inning.

End of 5th: IU 14 OSU 3

Seebold was back out there and he got the first two batters on a K and a groundout. He then gave up a two-out double to put a man in scoring position and Mercer went to the bullpen and brought in LHP Grant Holderfield with a 10.50 ERA in 6.0 IP.

Holderfield got a K to retire the side.

B6th:

It was the 9 thru 2 hitters up for IU with Moore leading off and he walked on a full count.

Wiggins flied out for the first out and Moore took 2nd on a WP.

Taylor Kd swinging for the 2nd out. Another WP sent Moore to 3rd. Dickerson Kd to end the inning.

End of 6th: IU 14 OSU 3

T7th:

Holderfield faced the 2 thru 4 hitters and he hit the leadoff hitter and then moved him to 2nd on a WP.

I assume the run-rule is not in effect for the Sunday game since there has been no mention of it.

Holderfield then got back-to-back Ks for two outs. A groundout retired the side with no damage done.

The run rule was in effect with the game over.

Final: IU 14 OSU 3

It was a great weekend for the team and the sweep is certainly encouraging going forward. IU outhit OSU 10 to 7 and got some pretty good pitching on the day in some cold weather.

IU had three multi-hit players.

Dickerson - 2 for 5 and a homer with 4 RBIs.

Denny - 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a homer.

Moore - 2 for 3 and he scored a run.

Wiggins and Taylor had a hit apiece and two RBIs apiece with Wiggins having a double.

The pitching was pretty effective as the run-rule indicated and they held the Buckeyes to 3 runs.

Swanson was lights out for 3 innings before he started running out of gas in the 4th. He went 3.1 IP with 3 hits to include a homer in the 4th and 2 earned runs, 7 Ks and 2 BBs.

Seebold went 2.1 IP and had a good outing. He gave up 4 hits to include a double and one earned run, 2 Ks and one BB, and a WP.

Holderfield closed it out and pitched 1.1 IP, and he gave up no hits or earned runs, and he had 3 Ks and no BBs. He did have a WP and also hit a batter.

As far as fielding, IU made some great defensive plays throughout the series and had no errors on the weekend. OSU had more errors (four) today than runs (three.)
