o$u fired Holtman last yr.......

midseason last year after losing about 7 straight

diebler came in and rattled off 5 straight B1G wins with the same players

finished 7-2 with both losses at the wire

just saying....
Holtman has DePaul undefeated at this point, but hasn’t really played anyone. 1st big game is Dec 4th vs Texas Tech.
Diebler was a risky hire. If he gets it done at OSU while IU struggles, that says a lot about our program.

Idk who would fill in. Maybe Calbert. That might help a little, but probably not much.

I don't care. This season is going nowhere. Wasted $6.5M NIL. All that matters is who the next coach is, and that hire can't happen until the end of the season.

We spent so much more than 99% of schools and have no idea how to use them. What a joke

I’d take a good look at the drake coach. Ben McCollum. Younger cig sounds like.

Google him!
He looks like a very bright coach waiting for his chance but I've heard he wants the Iowa job once Fran retires. He wants it for his entire career is the rumor. Ofcourse he would do very well there while we would be stuck with then 68 Mike Woodson.

coaches in all sports get canned all the time , even successful ones. when it stops working......well, you can't fire the the whole team

the buck stops with the coaches, no hard feelings you just have to move on. especially now that college sports have become a business

we need a change.....promote calbert

I'm not saying make him head coach, just inject some life and give the season a chance

Dolson start working on a permanent fix

USI had them on the ropes before missed free throws and giving up a last second three instead of fouling allowing it to go to OT, where DePaul won.

IU has to make the move. AH was shitty when we were 4-0. I promise it will be a shit show now. Hell, I’ll lead the charge.
I just saw looking at IU's schedule on ESPN ... tickets for Tuesday are down to $2 and $5 for the home game after that. I guess fans are not too fired up to watch Sam Houston State. I thought they just played football down there. But you are right Cav ... getting boo'd at 4-0, after this weekend, it will be loud and ugly. I still say he opened the can of worms with his idiotic Senior Day speech and half the fanbase are not doing to let him forget it.

They also did not have Quinn and his high priced donor buddies running the show. Quinn will keep woodson as long as he wants and you would never know quinn played on an undefeated team. To him saving his buddies job seems far more important than winning. Plus he has the big pocked donors writing woodson six million dollar checks.

Dolson has NO SAY in this matter quinn 100% is running the show.

Should have made the change after last season. Oh well, ship has sailed.
I think the UM NIL must not be good. One of the Sleepers guys, Greg, is a UM guy and he's very concerned IU could take May from them. Don't know if that's true, and while I believe May would be a huge upgrade, do a thorough search. Turn over every stone, talk to all the bball people you can and find the guy. Don't care if he's older and this is his last stop, like Pearl, or a wet behind the ears 25 yo coach from Army or some other mid-major. Talk to everyone, find the guy, and hire him, but you need to be as certain as you can, that he's the guy. I think one of our mistakes is we've identified a particular target and focused on him. Thorough search and find The Guy.

PS. as much as I hate hearing the Sleepers guys bag on IU, they have been 100% right. They've been saying all year that this roster should win the B10 by 3 games, but won't win it at all because of Woodson. They call him Sleepy Mike and said he spent the summer on the course. No idea if that's true, but they do have insight into several programs. It sure seems true now.

Get a 30-40 yr old basketball savant, plug him and HIS ENTIRE STAFF into our top-5 NIL. Giddy up.

I'm sure Scott has a list and has been working on it. He knew this was coming fairly soon.
Maybe.

I think it’s a deeper issue. Unfortunately it’s possible that the top 5 NIL is the problem. I don’t mean that you can’t be successful if you spend a ton. But, it can be a problem if the players are coming here for the wrong reason.

New coach can always send some $ back or give it to Cig.

Just kidding. They do have to pick the rights players for sure. I assume they will be able to do that.

Just another reason to have a good coach and staff, to identify the players you want that will be effective your system.

Spend wisely.

Look at our football program.

Why are the players here? What are the reasons to want to come here?

Look at our basketball program. Ask them same questions.

If you had a kid would you tell him to go to IU because it gives him the best chance to win?

Are these kids here because they believe in our coach and what he is building?

Are they here because they have seen a dynamic offense?

Are they here because we have been successful in program building ?

Are they here because we develop teams?

Be a Dad for a second. Aside from money and a campus you love, why would you want your son to come here???

You can if you look at kansas. But we have a bad coach and the guys he got likely just came for the paycheck.

Just did a quick google search and saw his offense (last season maybe) had the slowest pace in the nation.

Just mention that because pace has been discussed often with the preference being a faster one.

TBS, he’s been extremely successful and winning, well played basketball, goes a long way.

As an IU fan and lifelong Bears fan, this has been a TOUGH week.

Actually tough last 30 yrs.
If the Bears can do it, why not us? You could see this coming from the UNC-G game a mile away. A program with moderately successful history would've fired their coach by now. Maybe when Purdue buries us twice by 20+ the message will get through cause that's certainly going to happen.

Hell hire Pearl, he's only a few years Cig's senior and sign him for six years. Then we should be able to entice a rising star to take over a program firmly on solid ground.

That south Loop stadium looked cool. I’m guessing it will be hard to get done — not an easy city for stadium projects. Soldier Field an issue too obviously.
Politics in Crook County. Suburbs vs the Chicago machine. And yes the lake makes a highway belt system like 465 impossible. Natural traffic nightmares in all 4 directions.

Indiana won't fire Woodson mid season but things are going down fast I would love to see Cheaney get a chance but as a interm base. But I will say Cheaney worked with Reneau and Balo so atleast he is developing players and coaching.
