California may block UCLA exit?

Gavin Newsom is a royal douchebag, but the UC Board of Regents (of which he's a member) shouldn't have first learned of UCLA's move to the Big Ten from the media.The original fly in the ointment saw the opportunity to expose himself on a national stage and took it.

Newsome is destroying California and this shows why.Is Newsome ready to assume liability for destroying the Bruin Athletic program?
The clown is hoping to set himself up as the DNC presidential nominee in the "24" race and will do literally anything to get and keep his name in the news... He'll keep his "concern" about this going until he gets a kickback in the form of a campaign donation to the California DNC and all will be forgiven...Newsome is destroying California and this shows why.
I’m no fan of Newsom, but he’s the Chairman of the UC Board of Regents, which includes all of the UC system schools (that’s UC-Berkeley and UCLA, among others, as I’m sure you know). He probably has both a significant civic interest as well as a requisite legal responsibility on something this material, don’t you think?Newsome is destroying California and this shows why.
If that's his altruistic reason than he's proven himself even more incompetent at being the Chair of a Board of Regents then as a Governor (and That's saying something[!!!]), since he's seemingly literally the last one in the country to have suddenly become aware of these two schools joining the Big Ten...I’m no fan of Newsom, but he’s the Chairman of the UC Board of Regents, which includes all of the UC system schools (that’s UC-Berkeley and UCLA, among others, as I’m sure you know). This particular bit of news broke somewhere on, or very close to, July 1st... It's extremely difficult to believe that at least one or two of that august body that he's the supposedly "the Chair" of weren't aware of the negotiations at least a few days earlier..., at any rate.., it's fairly clear this is simply politics or he would have felt it important to announce his concerns and involvement much, much sooner (even adjusted for the 4th)..., say by the 5th of July at latest in any case..., not well over a full two weeks plus After the fact...
It's just political theater... There's "No crisis too big to waste" when it comes to the DNC, especially not one of the type that can be manufactured with no real negative risk involved...
Newsome sees this as an opportunity to get his face on the national news, while perhaps getting Cal and Stanford a slot at the Big Ten feeding trough as a bonus, along with increased donations from all interested parties, not to mention the under the table kickback take possibilities from anyone he can fleece... 💰
No matter what happens, he gains more free national exposure while risking basically nothing...
He might even, purely by accident, actually have a long term positive effect on the whole outcome (which would certainly be a unique experience for him and his legacy) if Cal and Stanford were brought into the fold after the fact, as part of a deal for the Big Ten to gain UCLA and USC.
That move could perhaps even trigger the Big Ten offices to desire to pick up 2 more in order to create a 4 groups of 5 teams each type of Pod balance, of which, Washington and Kansas would appear to be solid final addition candidates...
Resulting in:
Pod 1) California, Stanford, UCLA, USC; Washington;
Pod 2) Kansas; Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin;
Pod 3) Illinois, Northwestern, INDIANA, p u ; Michigan State
Pod 4) Michigan, Ohio State, P$U ; Maryland, Rutgers
The above arrangement leaves only one protected crossover game to be scheduled around: Michigan State vs Michigan; versus multiple ones; And avoids having completely uninteresting fabricated rivalries like say, us versus Rutgers..., while picking up 3 more Top 30 major TV markets in Seattle, San Francisco, and Kansas City...
The Blind Chipmunk finds nut 🐿 effect will hopefully work out somehow in our favor for once... Let's Go Gavin !😉
He is certainly acting as if the UC school group will be harmed somehow. But he's so political he gives no regard that they're not all members of the same conference now, so wtf. Just my thoughts; beside UCLA and USC the B1G should bring in Cal and Missouri. Then when ND succumbs and joins take the pick of the litter of the remainder of the west coast programs. That's tons of eyes watching BTN. I hate it but it is B1G business.I’m no fan of Newsom, but he’s the Chairman of the UC Board of Regents, which includes all of the UC system schools (that’s UC-Berkeley and UCLA, among others, as I’m sure you know). I think Missouri is out of the picture. While a seemingly natural fit, they seem enamored with the SEC and probably couldn't get out of their contract with them unless the SEC decided they wanted them out...He is certainly acting as if the UC school group will be harmed somehow. You may very well be right.I think Missouri is out of the picture. While a seemingly natural fit, they seem enamored with the SEC and probably couldn't get out of their contract with them unless the SEC decided they wanted them out...
Should be interesting to see how this all shakes out now the the serious clown has entered the Center ring under the Big top...
First time I've heard that this week! 😉🤣You may very well be right.
Depending on who our crossover games are every year...this would be an incredibly fortunate alignment for all the teams in our Pod. And I'd almost guarantee they'd switch Michigan to our Pod, and IU to OSU and PSU's pod. IU would get Purdue as a crossover. OSU would get Michigan. No chance there's a POD system that includes the top 3 revenue producing teams in the same POD. Overall, very well thought out though, and could be pretty cool.If that's his altruistic reason than he's proven himself even more incompetent at being the Chair of a Board of Regents then as a Governor (and That's saying something[!!!]), since he's seemingly literally the last one in the country to have suddenly become aware of these two schools joining the Big Ten...
