The NIT invitation guidelines seem to change often, but I don't think IU gets an invite at 16-16. I believe they would technically be eligible, but even that second-tier tourney doesn't want a team ranked in the triple-digits.

They are eligible and they deliver ticket sales and tv ratings. NIT wants them

Which makes our situation that much worse. If we had a more balanced team with good direction ee would be at the top.

The top two teams in the NET Rankings that do not qualify for the NCAA tournament from each conference, regardless of their record, will be selected for the NIT Tournament, and guaranteed the ability to host a game for the first round.
