New uniforms...

Just get rid of the chrome domes.
I wonder if you and I are just the wrong demographic to like those helmets. If current high school athletes like the chrome look, then I think you and I need to be out-voted. Sorry, 82, but it's about them and it's not about us.

i must have missed the poll of HS students that indicated they prefer chrome and flashy helmets.

no wonder Bama, OU, PSU, Mich, USC, and others, who failed to go chrome can't recruit any good players.

i always get a kick out of the "it's about the kids" posts when discussing loud blingy unis.

1) do you guys never see HS or college kids, or walk into clothing stores geared toward them?

kids dress very conservative these days, and have for a while..

2) old school look schools do best in recruiting every yr.

EVERY YEAR!

Oregon had some success and crazy unis, but they were the exception, and i don't credit crazy unis for their success.

IU has had a great looking traditional uni most of the last 50 plus yrs.

every so often some idiot at IU tries to go away from them, and every time they fail with the fans and recruits.

the uni in the pic looks pretty good, but lose the matte finish on the helmet and stay away from red on red at home. (for some reason white on white works ok for away, but dark on dark at home doesn't, for anybody, college or pro).

go with the Rose Bowl era look except with the interlock on the helmet. (our uni the Darius Willis era).

I’m not a kid and I like the chrome helmets. Didn’t realize we have to have uniform opinions.

I know of no formal poll taken about HS football players' opinions of college uniforms. But, I recall when they announced the six-helmet plan, the players got excited over the chrome domes and someone -- might have been CKW -- mentioned how popular that look is with recruits.
BTW: If we are really going to sport a solid red look, I really want to see us play at Boise State. o_O

Well, now Indiana can show off their facilities and player development rather than their helmets.

Yes, I work on a college campus

Generally most wear some combo work-out gear/sweats/t-shirts/jeans 90% of the time. Though is predominantly because they 1) don't have much money and 2) want to roll out of bed and throw something on that may or may not have been washed recently. When they break out of that typical mold, its not really all that conservative.

But give them some money and a place to be, they are probably going to dress a whole lot more like this: (he would most definitely rock a chrome helmet)

To me the helmet should have a logo or a caricature that identifies it with the school and it’s colors. But then the uniform colors are neither cream nor crimson. But then it all fits with having an unknown mascot. I felt the same way about Cameron’s black uniforms.

We've got a mascot...;) Fred's just too freaked out by the potential liability issues of having a live Bison running amuck thru the great unwashed masses to utilize him... (***although***,if we just could train him to focus on black and a pathetic shade of tan and only let him slip his bonds during the Bucket game he might be willing to foot the ensuing damages bill:D)...:D:D

Maybe..., if we promised to name the beast "Fred" in perpetuity the concept would gain some traction...(?)...;):D

I noticed they found a way to put some "stealth" candy stripe "outlines" on the sleeves...:(

Just can't let em go can you Fred.

Addicted to candy stripes... Maybe there's a 12 step program out there for it ....;)

I love the stealth stripes. A good uniform should have subtle but creative details imo. The pants just need some white to dim down the all red look.

Maybe someone can talk them into a double white stripe down the side of each pant leg.

Tell Fred they're "candy stripes" that would get the process expedited ;):D
