You may recall from prior stories that new punter James Evans is originally from New Zealand and his first time in the states was when he stepped foot on campus in January.
Well, according to special teams coordinator Kasey Teegardin it has been quite a transformation for Evans, who will be in the mix to be the starting punter when the Hoosiers open the season.

Meeting with the media today, Teegardin said:
"James is doing a great job and taking everything day by day. First time he ever wore pads was practice three. He's taking his helmet off before he gets off the field and you have to tell him that's a penalty. He is very raw and he is learning a ton. This spring is invaluable to him and getting him mid-year is huge. He's tying his shoes when Coach calls an emergency punt. He is taking everything in stride. He has a big leg and expecting a lot of out of him. He is very mature for 19."

Kicker Charles Campbell echoed those sentiments about Evans.
"James has a massive leg. When he gets ahold of the ball, he kicks one of the biggest balls I've ever seen."
